OMP Premix problems

Hi everyone,

My cars off the road while i get everything sorted. My main worry is this:

I have drove my car 6000 miles and it has not consumed any oil!!!!!
I expect the OMP is disfunctional, what does it look like? does it have a fuse? does anyone have any pictures? What should i check for?

Im worried that i have done some real damage to my engine while it has not burnt any oil, i will be using premix from now on though also.

Does anyone run on here with NO premix or omp????:icon_tup:

I think there are several people who use the OMP AND the Premis together ...

From my experience I can tell you that you will only notice oil consumption the days you really go full throttle. I have run some miles and I have noticed almost any fall in the oil level. But, for example, about 1 month ago and after a 1/2 hour on the track, the oil level was really lower, about three centimeteres or so.

If it makes you feel any better, I've never noticed any appreciable amount of oil used between oil changes on my latest FD---but then again I change my oil every 3,000 mi and drove it fairly easy. The amount of oil used by the OMP is engine load dependent, so I'm sure a lot of it has to do with your driving style and freq. of oil change.

I recently had my engine torn apart for a street port and there was zero oil related damage. Like you, I was still concerned about the amount being used so I bought the Rotary Aviation adapter to run premix from a separate tank that I can monitor. They also now sell a fixed adjuster that replaces the stepper motor on the OMP---this way you never have to worry about it again....

Does anyone run with niether. like i have been accidently doing for the past year? I realise some people but cheers

Cheers rotarywhat. I might add that my last FD used a lot of oil and i drive my new one fairly hard. i have smoke on startup though. im just hoping i have still a good few miles left in my engine.

Hey, where can I find this "fixed adjuster that replaces the OMP stepper motor" on the www.rotaryaviation.com site? I can't find them. I did find the thermal pellet upgrade though. Need to get that.

I'm sure your car is fine---if you're really worried about it you can test the OMP per the FSM (I think others do slight variation of the FSM test). As long as the motor is holding compression it's probably running fine, and I don't think you have anything to worry about.

MrNizzles, you can find the fixed adjuster here:

http://www.rotaryaviation.com/oil_in...p_adaptors.htm

You have to contact Richard Sohn personally though---you can't order it through the Rotary Aviation website anymore....

You're probably just getting fuel dilution in the motor, esp if it's a higher mileage engine. If it makes you feel better than premix, rx7.com sells Idemitsu which has added zero smoke to my exhaust fumes.

There's no way you've driven 6000 miles with no OMP lubrication, your engine wouldnt have compression.

ok thanks all, my engine seems to run really well, and i dont think its petrol dilution, im just going to look for some ash free premix stuff.
