OMP help!!!
Ok if you took off the OMP and you turned your car on, how much oil would you lose? Is alot of presure coming out of those holes?? Dose the presure change as the Rpms change, ie more presure at higher RPMS? TIA
Marc |
You'd lose all the oil a matter of minutes. It is fed by the oil pump, oil pressure does vary by rpms but there is a oil pressure regulator.

Hey so if i disconted the OPR then ill have no oil presure right, the OPR only controls the OMP right?
|
If you premix you dont need the OPR and OMP right?
|
I think what jeff means by the oil pressure regulator is a valve inside the oil pump body. All oil pumps have them to regulate oil pressure throughout the engine. You can't really remove it.
If you premix you don't need the OMP. But you can't do this if you have the stock ECU. |
Let me elaborate a bit. If the stock ECU detects a problem with the OMP, it will put your car into a mode in which it is barely drivable. Some people call it limp mode. Its just enough that you can drive it home, but thats about it.
So you can't just remove the OMP and put a block off plate on and expect the car to run ok if you have a stock ECU. What kind of problem are you having? |
What I thought you were asking, "if I start up the car how much oil will come out of the OMP holes". The answer is a WHOLE LOT OF OIL.
Now if your asking if you can block it off and just run pre-mix. Well like paw140 said, yes you can. But you need to have something other than a stock ECU. The OPR is needed on all engines. The oil pressure would go absolutely through the roof if the engine didn't have one. What are your plans? Jeff |
Well im going haltech, and it dosent control the OMP! should have said that! Im thinking that there is gonna be alot of presure pushing against that plate!! Im just thinking i dont want it to leak oil every where!!
Marc |
IM saying i just dont want a huge leak!! From the block off plate!!
Marc |
i have haltech, no OMP, blocked of by a BOP. and no problems. i used *the right stuff* to put a seal around the edge of the BOP. the right stuff is amazing. i love that shit! it comes in a black tube, expensive, but worth every penny. it seals wet or dry.
