Oil Pressure and Water Temp Gauge Help
 

I just got the new Blitz gauges for the Water Temp and Oil Pressure. I want to install them myself, and i can do it cause have done it on other cars. However, would like to know the best place to mount both gauges inside the engine bay, i just wanna be sure of my initial thoughts and confirm them, thank you.

You want to mount the gauges in the engine bay? I have mine on the A-pillar.

I've got oil press and water temp gauges (Autometer) too, but I have not yet installed them. I plan on replacing the stock oil press sending unit with the supplied Autometer one, but I'm not sure if the original gauge will work with that. I will be drilling a new hole in the thermostat housing for the water temp. I don't agree with that TB coolant line idea.

EDIT: You didn't actually mean you were mounting the gauges themselves in the engine bay did you?

I hope you mean..."Where do I mount the SENSORS?"

The oil pressure, you can get a Greddy adapter that bolts on top of where the oil filter is, then use on of the lines out of it for the oil pressure.

The water temp. is easy. Simply get a water temp adapter that attaches to one of the radiator hoses. Cut the radiator hose to size using the adapter, put the water temp. sensor in it and presto!

...you have water temp.

Hey everyone, I do not want to piss in anyone's cornflakes, but if you are able to somehow get the temp sensor into the block, it would be wayyyyyy better than in the hose. If the T-stat sticks closed, and they occasionaly do, the water will stop flowing, and the sensor won't know it. Scenario #2, if the belt breakes, or for some other strange reason the Water pump stops pumping, again no coolant flow, and no indication of impending doom. Just something to think about.

I did mean sensors. I was looking into the Greddy Adapter, but no one knows what it is but me when i want to order it. Do you have a part # for it?. However, i am confused about the water temp sensor, and where to put it, its just a metal plug, and wondering where to put it.

i have a thought!! it might be possible to splice into the wire from the sensor that is already there? have not done any kind of research at all but it is a thought i hate drilling it just takes to much time(ha!ha!) yes i like the easy way out.but think about it for a second the sensors is installed in the block and if you could splice in the wire you would just be getting the same signal and maybe the gauge could read it that would be the question??? i dont know i will try it out one of these days it is afterall a signal (voltage, something like that)
