Oil pressure switch, etc. wire color help
 

So I finally got the car to start and run last night after 30 months, but I'm not getting an oil pressure reading. This leads to me sorta believe that my switch wiring, and the other thing stuck in the block to the left of it, might be mixed up. I had 3 identical clips in the area to choose from for the two things.

First, let me make sure the switch is supposed to only have one wire, right? The shop manual isn't a ton of help and I wasn't the one who stripped my car, so forgive me for sounding a bit lost.

So, please tell me how many wires the switch has ... and what color (and striping if any), and possibly what part of the harness and direction the wires for the switch and the little thing stuck into the block to the left of it is. That would help so much. I have a wire coming from the starter harness red wire with gray stripe, 14 guagish, another from higher up on that harness (I think) with like 10 guage red wire, and one coming from over the top of the second rotor from the main engine harness.

You say three? I know of the one to the oil pressure sensor, this comes from the main engine harness accross the engine to the base of the filler neck. The other one is oil level switch in the pan which comes from the harness that includes the starter etc.. If you swap those you will get no indication of oil pressure or low oil light/alarm. I'm not sure of the third one you mention? Sorry I couldn't help more.

Thanks for your help ... I actually have 3 identical clips in the area (they are the tab-slide type) and the oil level sensor one is two wires and different (I have it accoounted for). So the one that come across the top of the motor is the oil pressure sensor wire? And the oil pressure sensor is that tiny thing stuck in the block to the left of the large oil pressure switch, right? That's what I had that one connected to. Thank you for your help, though! :D

Well I'm sad to report that I think the main bearing or a stationary gear is a piece of shit ... I'm not certain, but when I turn the crank by hand with a socket wrench I get a small movement clunk from inside the motor ... and when I start it (or try to, because it's not quite starting up since that time), I get a fairly rapid internal banging clunk. The almost entirely new block did sit around for over a year and a half while that shop parted out my car ... but who knows, I was probably ripped off again.

The one that comes across the engine called "EM" goes to the small sensor that is screwed into the engine - this is the engine temperature sensor (meter) - Confirmed, it should be yellow with a white stripe. The wire to the oil pressure sensor(switch) big one, is from the starter harness called "E" is grey with a red stripe. I can't see down there for the big red one but check on the engine block for a connector, I seem to remember a connector on one of the bolts that the P/S and AC bracket attach. Check and see if there is any power on the red wire before grounding it to the connector. Mine is a 93 if yours is 94 or 95 it may have different colour codes. Sorry to here about the other problem, it does sound like a stationary gear. LOL

And yeah, I'm afraid of what the clunking is ... I think it's the rear gear, too, which pisses me off because the motor has never been used. Ahhh well ... I guess the thing has to come back out tonight. :)
