Oil pressure gauge

Hey lads

I have a 93 rhd rx-7 with 79800kms on it. I just took it out of storage a week ago, and a couple hours into driving it I smelled a very weak odor of anti freeze. Which comes and goes. Just today I was driving and my stock oil pressure gauge I notice was all over the place ranging from 2-8 depending on the rpm's and sometimes the red light came on then off again, I dont know if that normal but I remember from before it usually only stayed around 4.

I've check all the fuilds and they all seem fine, the oil was below half way though for that I use 20w50 castrol. Still drives fine and sounds fine I just want to see if this is normal or not.

Thanks in advance

if i remember correctly there stock oil gauge is not very accurate and can have confusing readings from time to time.

The gauge is fine. The sender gets dirty from it's location as well as some damage from heat. It's located under the old filter pedestal. Clean up the connection and see if that helps. If not, just replace the sender.

alternative is to relocate the sender. I ran a -3AN braided line from the block to the engine bay side and mounted the OEM sender next to the fuel pump resistor. Never had a problem since.

Each time I start up my car it goes nearly to the midway point. The faster I rev the engine the higher it climbs.

IMO, you should be fine. Just let her warm up before you start driving fast.
