oil Pressure gauge
Hi guys,
What can I say, I picked my FD up today, huge all round - found a few niggly faults but nothing too bad so far A quick Q about the oil pressure guage, what should this damn POS read? Mine is up and down like a yoyo, at idle is 1/4 the way up and when booting the car it rises toward 7..... not pressing the panic button just yet as the car seems to run too well (touches wood) So can someone recommend an After Market guage that fits in the OEM pod, or tell me what else to look out for. Thanks Dave |
I just looked in the manual and @ 3000RPMs you should see 50psi once the car is warm.
I have just tried searching to. You get a whole lot if you just search for oil+pressure. I am not be the best at it so you should try. But I know this has been discussed in great detail. Also the electrical connection to the oil sender unit often becomes dirty and can cause some people problems with the read out on the stock gauge. |
mine usually reads 30-40 at idle, 60-70 at crusing speed (around 3k) and anything over 5k, it's usually pegged out. hope that helps

Watched mine today as I drove into work.
At idle it reads about 10psi, very close to zero on the gauge. 2000 RPMs right around 40-50psi. 3000 RPMs right at 60psi 4000 and above 90psi and higher. |
Thanks, does seem a really terrible guage, I'm hunting down two new 52mm ones now, pressure and coolant temp :)

I run a greddy 52mm oil pressure guage. It reads 2 kg/cm2 at idle (950rpms) and 5 kg/cm2 at 2500 rpms and the most I usually see it around is 9 kg/cm2 though I dont look at any guages at redline so it could go higher. :)
I think the conversion is 14.5 psi = 1 kg/cm2. I am thinking about eliminating some guages but the oil pressure one is what I am going to keep. |
I am seeing around 60 at start up and 40 at idle once warm. 60-70 until 3k.
