Oil Pressure Fluctuates...
 

Oil pressure will go to practically zero, to mid-level (I think 60) to practically max (120)... any idea what causes this? The car usually will idle at a light at very low pressure, then once I get going again will jump up to mid-level pressure. It doesn't usually jump to max pressure... it did today cuz it had a rough time starting, so that probably had something to do with the high pressure...

Any idea what to check? Thanks.

common issue. replace your sending unit.

try cleaning the copper connector first though

Sounds good, so it isn't something that will kill my engine, rather just a bad sensor.

Any write-ups on how to do this?

unscrew the old one, screw the new one in.

That's my writeup. Oil pressure senders frequently go out, VERY common problem. About $80 for a new sender. Piece of cake to install the new sender, too.

Just what I needed. I'm learning to work on this car as I go... so I kind of need to be walked-through everything I do. Hopefully that will change one day.
