Oil Pan Removal Tool
5 Attachment(s)
So I was cruising through OSH to find a good putty knife, paint scraper, or chisel to assist me with removing my oil pan. I came across the below 90 degree pry bar in the paint scraper section and thought it would be useful for removing oil pans. Honestly, this is the best thing I ever used to remove an oil pan plus it didn't bend or damage the edge of the oil pan at all.
The 90 degree portion was very useful in the tight space available, just tap it with a hammer and it makes the job pretty painless. |
hmm i've used that type of tool in demolition work.

Speaking of scary tools, a friend had an old meat cleaver in his garage. Worked quite nicely on the oil pan IMHO.

Cheap as hell, but I've used the scraper on the far right to remove three or four oil pans now. With the different angles cut into it you can pull or push it through the sealant to get it released and reduce the amount of prying that's needed. It does have a metal head though if you need to do some light tapping w/ a hammer. Works for me.
