oil pan question for engine builders. quick one
Hi,, I purchased a brand new oil pan from mazda,, had it sand blasted and powder coated red (looks nice) Problem is they didn't powder coat the inside of the oil pan , its now bare metal (they sand blasted it).
Ive already installed it on engine but now im worried about it corroding inside, its going to be covered in oil in no time,, will it be ok?? |
youre fine, the oil will keep it lubricated so it wont rust.
ok brilliant,, that's what I was thinking, ,, once oil is in there and splashed about it should all be covered
^^ Yeah, I think you'll be fine.
and if the inside was coated and any of it came off, it would be in your oil.
Hope the oil control "tanks" nipples were masked to prevent blast media getting inside.
you dont want that crap on the inside..they did the right thing
Agreed. It won't rust with oil in it. I've actually never seen rust on the inside of any fd oil pan.
stupidly i didnt mask the oil tank holes. i was shaking a blowing out blasting media for days to get it all out
irp i purchased one of your upgraded alternators. i notice the pulley is hard to turn. not impossible but a little stiff. do the alternators come with new bearings installed?
