Oil Metering Pump-Limp Mode
 

Hi guys, recently got my motor rebuilt and I was driving it home and the cel came on and car went into limp mode, didn't want to go over 2500 rpms when driving, check the cel and it had to do with something in the omp, or connector, I reset the ecu and it ran fine, but it came on a day later again, I have full exhaust,intake pretty much that's all, stock ecu aswell, need some advice on what I should look at and/or look for. I think there's 3 different codes for the OMP. They all basically indicate either the omp connector, wiring continuity, the omp itself. There is one code that could also indicate a problem with the ECU I believe.

If it's the omp you'll have to either replace or eliminate. Good news is you can probably pick up a good used one in the for sale section pretty cheap. Bad news is it's a pain in the ass to replace with the engine in the car.

If you have a Power FC you can just disconnect the thing with no problems (of course you'd need to premix at that point)

Pull the alternator and (I think) the PS pump to access the connector for the OMP. Check continuity. If it's good change the OMP. Search for threads under my name for a" how-to".

I would not get a PFC to solve the issue unless your planning significant power mods in the near future and of course, prepared to spend the $850 to $1000.

I wouldn't get one to just fix the OMP issue either, but since he just did a rebuild and is throwing codes already....

A PFC (or EMS of your choice), datalogit and a wideband are a great investment, and cheaper than rebuilds :)

Yeah I think it's the wires connction, because once it's reset it goes away, then will come back on when boost is barely creeping in
