oil drip...Please help, have pictures

I have a slight oil drip....a couple or more quarter size spots after running the car. I can smell hot oil while running it if that helps. When looking underneath my car, I notice there is no oil on the driver side of the engine, only on the turbo side. There is oil all around the oil pan and looks to be on the secondary turbo. I have taken some pictures and was wondeing if people could help give me some pointers on where to start. I ordered the oil feed gaskets that go to the block but I don't have a clue how to access them, I can't even see the lines when looking up at the car. here are some pictures and any help will do, thanks!!

Your best bet for finding a leak like that, where oil is almost everywhere is to clean it off really good. Go pick up some degreaser let it sit on there for a couple mins, give it a good wash with some really hot water and blow it dry. Then once everything looks pretty clean, let it idle and get under there with a good bright light and see where it is coming from. It's so hard to tell when oil is all over the place like that. Plus you don't have to work with oil all over the place.

thanks

I appreciate the suggestion, I went ahead and pressure washed the whole underside and it looks great. I am going to take it for a drive and then get under it when its on the hydro. lift and see if I can spot anything. once again thanks.

looks like a front cover gasket leak.

yup. go get a new oil gasket.

use some dye and get a black light to see where it leaks from. try to get really clean. cleaner the better and real easier to find. I have oil in the same places but not as much as you, also mine is slightly leaking from the oil return line (front). clean and search:bigthumb:

Fortunately for you I don't think it's your front cover. It looks to me like your secondary turbo housing is bathed in oil (ref the second pic), so my first guess is that one of the oil lines on the turbos is leaking.

That will give you or your mechanic the perfect opportuntiy to change out that stock downpipe, too.

might be oil pan gasket ...

Get a can of engine degreaser and spray down the area so it's clean. (Use the hose as well) when you are done and it's clean start up the car and look for the leak.

+1

there isnt really anything above the turbos that can be leaking oil, except the OMP injector - and i doubt its that.

I would guess its ure oil returnline from the turbo, clean change to new gasket (heatresistent)...

just like this guy im getting some drips too, its coming from the place seen on his last pic posted on the right on the original post. ive checked my oil levels and its still full, there is no oil pressure drops either. its also too far up to be comin outta my transmission.

edit: it drips from the circular hole on the frame on driver's side.

I have an oil in the same place, from what i can see mine is coming from the oil drain line gasket (primary/front turbo) or the actual turbo housing. Are there any tips on changing the oil return gaskets ? I am able to get a socket on 1 of the bolts, but i can't get at the 2nd one.

thx.

thanks

I really appreciate once again all the help and suggestions. I do have all the oil gaskets to replace them (5). I oredered them from Ray at malloy mazda. The only problem I am having is I don't exactly know what needs to be done to replace those gaskets. Can anyone send a diagram or some instructions on what needs to be removed to get to them gaskets. thanks again for the help!

oil drip

After the drive from SE Idaho to Portland Oregon, I did not loose any oil pressure or any oil. I did notice that upon arrival to my house in Portland that a little bit of blue smoke was coming out from under the wheel well. I am pretty sure that my oil pan gasket needs to be replaced. Are there any tips on doing this. thanks again for all the help!
