oil cooler thermostat removal?
Has any one removed the thermostat in the oil cooler or the tranny cooler? Is it difficult? Possible?
Thanks, mike Yes I searched |
If I remember correctly, that's a very bad idea. it won't allow the oil to get up to operation temperature. I think I remember seeing someone that took it out and replaced it with a washer with a small inner diameter. some of the gurus could tell you for sure though.

I've been a little busy ;). OK I'm not concerned with wether it is a good idea since I'm using the unneeded auto tranny cooler (Swapped to 5speed) for the PS cooler.
Anybody know how to do this or exactly how the spring works as a thermometer??? |
There is a bimetal portion contained by the spring. As it heats up, it expands against the spring and allows flow through the cooler. If you can access it, you can remove it with no problems.
