Oil/Coolant passage porting.......
Can someone explain this...advantages/disadvantages and if this is good for a daily driver. Motor is getting a street port.

IMO, I don't see the point of those mods if the car isn't going to be a track car (i.e. at high rpms for long periods of time). Even then, there are street/track cars doing just fine without those mods. A pure race car would probably benefit greatly from those.

I'm trying to find out what this porting does. If it helps longevity at all, then it might be worth it while the engine is apart.

I've tried the search, but it does'nt seem like this was explored much.

Check out the link under this forum on engine building thoughts
https://www.rx7club.com/pineapple-racing-171/ Also search beyond the 3rd gen section. On a daily driver it probably won't make a huge difference. The only time you'll really notice is when you put the motor under stress like on a HPDE track day. Why don't you ask your engine builder for input on this? I'm sure he'll have an opinion. |
