OEM Bra - where to attach in front fenders

Does anyone have an OEM bra for their 3G? Where are the snaps mounted in the front inner fenders to keep this thing on? I thought they went on one of the metal screws attaching the inner fender to the outside of the wheel well but that does not seem to be the case. Anyone have a picture of this snap attachment point or can enlighten me? Thanks

Using a bra for any type of car can actually damage the paint, due to water being trapped in there. Make sure you remove it when you are going to wash your car and when it rains.

It's like a button under the wheel well...

When I bought the OEM bra it came with two screws that have button heads to replace two of the existing screws.

BTW, is the OEM bra still available from Mazda? I want to sell mine since it doesn't work with the 99 Spec Lip. Only used it a half dozen times or so - like new.

DO NOT USE THE BRA!!!!!!!

I used the bra and what happens is the rubber bumper cant breath, it gets soooo hot that it will warp!!!! I noticed if you stick your hand behind the bumper from where the hood latch is you'll notice that with a bra on the car it is WAAYYY hotted behind the bumper than with the bra off the car.

Mine has dimples all across the front from the bra!!!! They are not that visible unless the light it hitting a certain way but once you see them they stand out everytime you look at the car. It bothered me so bad to see the dimples that i just bought the Apexi front. I got tired of everyone seeing my totally mint condition car and saying.....dude how did all these dents get in the front?????

Oh Yea, I was using the oem bra and I removed it while washing and kept it real clean.

I just replaced the front bumper (which was warped) with a new stock one. BTW the bumper was warped when I bought the car and did not have a bra that I know of. I think many of the dark-colored FD's get warped due to the sun (the previous owner left it out all the time and it is black). I often open the hood or leave the cooling fans on to keep the hood cooler.

Just want the bra for taking trips. The car does not sit in the sun and I would not leave it on when wet.

I had a OEM bra for my 2nd Gen and used it without any problems(as long as you don't use it when wet, sandy, etc).

The OEM bra is no longer available but the hood cover is.

Does anyone know where the snap button attaches in the wheel opening?

Mine was warped within 5000 miles of driving and it stays in the garage. I bought the car from a car collector with 3964 mile on it and no warping, within 5000 miles over the period of 3 months my bumper was warped. I always kept it in the garage when not out and about. Like i say, if you drive around with the bra on and put your hand behind the bumper it is VERY hot. If you take the bra off and drive around its cooler. It might be the fact that the bra is black or it might be that it traps the heat, I'm not sure but one way or another the bra does warp the front.

The bra will definatly warp the front bumper.

If its already warped i dont guess it really matters.

Just thought I'd let you know!!!

Ok, I will hardly ever use it since my FD rarely goes more that a few miles from home.

Where does the snap screw go?

misdbman 10-21-01 08:58 PM

Ok, I figured out where the screw goes by myself. The first inner fender phillips screw closest to the bumper.

The problem is that I new to replace this screw with one with a smaller head. I need a #8 screw with a #6 head. Anyone know where to get one?
