Odometer working again - Thanks, DNA!

Sent my gauge cluster off to DNA to fix the odometer. I had it back within 3 days, fixed and working perfectly.
Highly recommend them. :icon_tup:

Posting their contact info would be great.

Glad to hear it is working again. It definitely takes some skill to properly desolder and solder on new components without damage. Did they offer a warranty? I've repaired a few of them myself and so far have had good results. With the age of the FD I think most owners are running into this problem.

If you don't mind could you post the cost of the fix. Obviously it depends on how much needs to be repaired but a ballpark figure would be nice. I need to finally send mine in this winter!

It cost $175 to fix it...I think that is their standard fee, that was shipping included. Least expensive by far of all the repair shops I had quote it...the others varied from $225 to $350. 1 year warranty.

nice! I'll need to send mine out to them too

What was not working before?

bajaman 12-26-12 05:26 PM

On mine? The odometer display was blank. Many threads on this, and fixes from some very dedicated/talented people...but I just didn't feel like messing with it. As the guy at DNA said, "There is about a 50/50 chance of fixing these due to the nature of the leaking capacitors. IF they've compromised the circuit board, there isn't a reliable fix."

I wonder if they're able to fix the roaming tach problem..... seems to becoming more common with age. IE, as your rpm increases, the odometer counter increases. It sucks to see a low mileage car's numbers climbing as the car sits at idle

^ I've never heard of that symptom before. I know my tach will roam around on occasion or even do a quick rpm spike, but I don't see how the rpm problem could affect the odometer. Isn't the speedo completely independent of the tach?

The tach signal goes through the speedometer circuit board. With a roaming tach issue, it very well may be a capacitor going bad on the speedometer board.

Just talking to these guys and seeing their work...I'd say they can fix most anything, or tell you straight up if they can't.

they have fixed my tachs before...they go through the entire cluster when you send it down
