odometer resistor

The miles were not displaying on my odometer so i took it apart to look for bad capacitors. Instead i found that resistor number 17 was completely missing off of the circuit board. I can see where the solder broke. The other resistors around it are 472's, so i'm assuming it is as well. Can anyone confirm this?
Also, would anyone know where i could purchase this little resistor?

Thanks!
Sheldon

I can not verify the type resistor.

As to where to purchase, go on-line to Mouser or Digi-key electronics and they will have what you need.

okay, i've tried 2 different resistors and the thing still isn't working ( got 1 identical resistor from a PS2 contoller, and one of the same resistance from radioshack). Guess i'll just replace the whole thing. Either there is still a problem elsewhere, or the resistance is supposed to be something else.
The back light comes on, but the numbers don't show up. All capacitors look good.

I just read that the big blue capacitor is the one to replace when the numbers don't display. i guess i will try that before i buy another cluster.

Again, does anyone know what resistor goes in the R17 slot? I can't find a pic of the circuit board anywhere.

do the a search there is a good tutorial on replacing you capacitors or send to me i will fix it. i have already fix four units successfully. Of course for a small fee LMK!

Electrolytic capacitors have a life of around 15 years. Any bells going off??? Read this if you haven't and go from there:

I thought I had more pics of the board from when I was working on mine. This shows R18, maybe #17 is in view. FWIW I replaced all but one of the capacitors on mine to get it working.

thanks for the pic andrew, but unfortunately r17 is on the back side of the board. i don't know why they don't put things in order.

i have replaced all but 2 of the capacitors, but still no luck. Radioshack doesn't have the other 2. ....so no one has an odometer pulled out to see what r17 is? someone has to have one laying around.
