odometer resets every time I start the engine!

Hi guys!

Couple months ago, Some bad person broke into my FD, and took all sound system. He cut off all the wires to a stereo, amplifier, and subwoofer.
After that, the odometer, which we can reset manually by pressing the button next to it resets the mileage to 0.0 whenever I shut off the engine. This odometer is supposed to cumulate the mileage, right?

And I do not have an interior light, which should be on when door is opened. I played with the switch, and I still do not have lights.

And, when I installed new stereo, I found out that no current flows through the wire, which always should have a positive current for the power supply. So, I got wire connected directly from the battery.

I guess this is fuse problem. When the bad person cut off wires, there must have been a electronic shock or something, but I do not know which fuse has problem.

Anybody has an idea? anything can help me.
Thank you guys in advance.

i have the exact same issue with the trip meter resetting every time i turn the key off. I have yet to figure it out. Sorry for not haveing an answer.

My radio does not work either. Nor does my headlight circuit get power. But the parking light circuit does so i tapped them for headlights. There has to be a common point somewhere.
I'll post back if i find anything. But ideas are welcome. As this has got me puzzled.

Sounds like the memory wire is not getting power. If you read the fsm and track down which color wire should be giving the odometer power for storage and track down the problem or wire it with a fusible link and a constant 12VDC supply your problem will be fixed.

I kinda have the same problem once. But I was getting a clutch installed. I had the same problem wiht the lights and the stereo. I don't remember if the odometer had the same problem though since I knew where to look right away. It end up being a wire from the center console that was conected to the exhaust warning and ash tray light that was pinched. I don't know if this will help but is somewhere to start.

Thanks for the replies/ideas fellas!

The wire for the memory sounds like the most obvious. Hopefully it will be that easy.

And for me the center console can be in or out and the symptoms are the same. But that is a good place to start.
