o2 sensor?

Ok guys this one should be easy.....If the fd has a bad O2 sensor(oxygen sensor)...what would it do to the car? For example will it make the car run a little too rich.

And I havent searched for this yet but how hard is it to install?

Thanks for any info and if u know of any links to answers for the questions just post them....thanks.

You'll just get a little worse gas mileage and probably the occasional CEL.

It takes about 5 minutes to install from under the car if you don't have the stock pre-cat. :)

not sure of mine is shot. My car isnt smooth when i go on/off throttle or partial throttle. I guess its worth a trying to replace it. How much do they cost?

jsut get a bosch universal form autozone. or napa. Last time i got mine i think it cost about 20 bucks with tax.. But your going to have to cut the wire off your old o2 senosr and crimp it onto the new one...it should also come with some shrink wrap to ensure a good solid connection :)

replace it~~~ for me it helped me stabilize the idle better even with the power fc in it!!!!

Guys.. just a small question please,

my fd's O2 sensor wire is cut and the check engine light is on, i didn't notice that the wire is cut until now!!!!!!!? when i accelerate, it sometimes pulls late and sometimes gives me power loss! and it has a weak response when i accelerate.

but i already got it a used OEM O2 sensor from another damaged 13B engine and i am having it installed next week.

what will happen if your drive your FD without the O2 sensor?
because in some cars like Honda, it's sometimes okay to disconnect the O2 sensor.

Sure you can disconnect it and drive the car. That means, you ecu will not get any input to change the fuel map and in return the ECU will run the car pig rich and then you will have toasted cat.

Side effects: very poor gas mileage, lack of power, occasion CEL and maybe even shitty idle and to some point if an O2 is shorted (happened to a customer's car), it will cause your car to bog down.

I see... Then it's better to get installed right away.

Thanks.

I would not waste my time with a use O2 sensor. Just buy an new one. They are not that expensive. Autozone has an O2 removal tool you can borrow. Just leave a deposit (in case you don't return it) which they will refund when you return the tool.

Is there an bolt-on after market sensor available? Does any Bosch single wire sensor fit or will it have to be specific sensor? Links would be nice.

oo7arkman 12-31-11 08:50 AM

Bosch single wire will work. Remember this is an old car and wide-band sensors were not used from the factory. As mentioned above you will just have to cut off the stock plastic connector and crimp the new connection. Heat shrink would also be a good idea to seal and strengthen the connection. If you have eliminated the stock precat (and hopefully you have) this should take very little time.
