noob question: oil pressure

ok let me start off by saying my mechanical knowledge is very limited
my questions are:

1. it seems the oil system is mechanical i.e. oil is pushed through the engine mechanically.. is this correct?
2. my oil level sensor is not installed because the cable is broken .. could this affect oil pressure?
3. i don't know if my oil pressure sensor is working properly (the yellow bell looking thing next to the oil filter) ... could this have any affect on oil pressure? i.e. the ecu tries to compensate for a bad oil pressure sensor?
4. could premixing compensate for a oil system that's not working properly?
5. is there a definitive way to ensure oil is flowing properly without the use of the oil pressure gauge on the dash?

Yes and no. There is the oil pump and the metering oil pump. The actual engine pump is driven off the e-shaft so it increases as the rpms increase (which is also why the oil pressure increases with rpms).

No.

No.

Not really. Premixing only helps with the oil injection system. Oil is going through more places than just there.

Without making a mess? Not really. ;) You can pull one or more of the connections in the oil system and then crank to the car to see if oil comes out.
