Non-Sequential Dyno Sheet

Well, I've been talking about my dyno run for a while, and talking about how happy I am with my non-seq (welded gate, ported wastegate)

Here is my dyno sheet:

My mods are basically the M2 Stage 3 kit, with the non-seq turbos

Here is a copy of a dyno sheet with the M2 Stage 3 kit and regurlar sequential turbos.

(note, I normalized the data between the two sheets, for ease of comparison)

Conclusions:
All things being as equal as I can see, my non sequential setup gives better overall power, over a wider rpm range, coming on sooner, and lasting longer.

Turbo lag is non apparent, and the torque is lovely and linear. There is no 'kick in the ass' between 4500 and 5000. Infact, at 4500, I'm already above 250 hp, while the stock seq setup goes from 200 - 270 in a very short range. Also notice that I'm above 300 hp from around 5200 to 6200.

From my dynosheet, you can see that my wastegate opened at 11lbs, right around 5000, and there is some flapping, and 'breakup' or whatever, but it is less violent and shorter lasting than stock.

I started the path to non-sequential because of chronic boost problems. Now that I've had solid, reliable boost for 3+ months, I will never go back. Add in my dyno results and torque curve, and I would encourage any of you that have boost probelms to go totally non-seq.

Pretty damn impressive for stage 3.

I don't see many stock turbo's car putting down 300lbs of torque. Especially at 11psi.

Good job.

I wish my old Non-seq car performed as well.

That's true... My torque is above 300 ftlbs (even if it is just barely), where the stock seq is not...

nice

man.. wonder if i should go to non-seq when i rebuild my motor.. kind'a tempting now that i see your results.. how's the driving around town like? if your not flooring it all the time does it lag a lot? i know it must be great flying down those open freeways but how bout when things are more sedated... thanks

oh.. i'm getting a mild streetport.. will that make them spool up faster?

nice post....Can you feel any lag difference?

just wondering...

thanks for the dyno sheets...that shows a lot of useful info. I cant believe how long the non seq hugs 300hp in comparison to the sequential.

it seems the only reason to stay sequential is to enjoy that huge spike at 4500rpms....quick gain that way.

I just got my m2 ball bearing set. I have the option of going non seq. I have a streetport and thus have more lag already...am afraid that going non seq will contribute to that lag....I got the ball bearing set to avoid that problem.

what do you think???? Should I go non seq?

thanks

Nice numbers! And very nice torque curve! I was going to get a dyno run in last month but found out my primary turbo is gone so I'm waiting to get new turbos. There was a guy up at KDR with the same mods as mine (streetport, non-seq. - even a hi-flo cat) that dynoed at 361 rwhp at 14psi - hopefully I can pull down that. Have to get some secondaries though. I'd be happy with 340-350 rwhp at 14 psi. Lag is there but you won't really notice it. I get full boost by 3200-3300 rpms. If you have a streetport along with full exhaust it will help a non-seq. car get more power - also a lightened flywheel will help them spool faster. Around town, sequential is a little better I guess-not much. If you have a midpipe it will be loud with non-seq. and you should have your turbos clipped as there will be more lag. M2 BBs would kick ass non-seq. since they are BB they should spool as quick as a non-seq. stock turbo FD. I feel they are worth it.

I would imagine that with a streetport, the "lag" would be more apparent... In truth, i think the street port doesn't effect the turbos, as much as it cuts down low end power.

As for lag with my car, I have CRAZY boost all over the place.. the thing is almos undrivable on the streets around here because 1. the pavement is slick, and hard to get good traction on, and 2, I just have crazy boost :)

Nice #'s there! Have you looked into any other dyno's besides Mikes? He's kinda expensive! You should take it to the track this Sat. Were gonna be out there again running the Supra that just got done. It ran a 11.0 @ 127 last Sat. on drag radials. I might run my Mustang with the bottle to see what it'll do.

You never got back with me to come by the shop....we just got the downpipes and midpipes in for the 3rd gens. They are really nice!

Elliott, I actually tried to find your shop, but rad out of time at lunch (then I lost/deleted your email) PM me or post your shop's address here...

I'll be out of town this weekend, but I really need to bring the car out to the strip... hopefully next weekend...
