No split timing?
 

I was reading back a few days ago in the Vol. 1, Issue 7 of RX Tuner, and came upon the "Perfect FD" article. I was reading and found the ignition system to be very interesting. It said, "Ralph found the car easier to tune with no wasted spark, by having no split timing. I tie the trailings together, and run no split." What is all this? How is it done? Have many people done this modification?

Some of the programmable ECU's out there have seperate timing maps for leading and trailing. You can set them independently and vary your split. You can also run negative split in the high vacuum areas, firing the trailing before the leading. Basically, it's expert only stuff and I wouldn't recommend running like this all the time on the street with pump gas unless you or your tuner really know what they're doing. Ralph is making huge hp and runs race gas 24/7.

I run 18 degrees of advanced timing with my single. Works great. Changes the sound of the exhaust. It seems to work better with my NGK 10egv's especially at high RPM's - no difference under 5psi. My car is tuned to 17psi.
