well i dont know. all my gears work including 5th, but i cant get it to go into reverse. its like there is a reverse lockout mechanism. when i pull it straight down from 5th, it goes into nuetral but no further. wont ever try to go down to the reverse spot. please help, thanks, scott

I blew out my reverse trying to go into 3rd when I actually went into 5th gear. You blew out a synchro. I tried to put it in reverse with the car off, with the car on with the car off and the clutch in then the clutch off...every freaking combo you could think off....and nothing. You'll need to get a transmission shop to replace that synchro, or get a used mission to replace the whole thing...I ended up getting a used mission...WAY too hard to fix the syncro...:(

But on a good note, I've found that I did some VERY creative driving:D

thanks for the response. i did the exact same thing. i was at the track missed third hit 5th. no more reverse. thanks, i tried every combo too. well i guess the search is on for a new tranny, know of any? thanks, scott

its not necessarily a blown synchro, especially if you just started your car up one day and it wouldn't go in. if that was the case its more likely a roll pin or something fell out of the shift fork and just needs to be replaced. that is a much easier job, though it still requires pulling the tranny.

thanks i am pulling the tranny today so i will let you know how it goes, thanks scott

Damn...Slopoke you are pulling out the tranny yourself??? Man...much props to you! I had the opposite
problem...I sometimes couldn't get out of Reverse---how about that? And then my 5th gear grinded like my teeth when I went to the dentist...So I finally took to R and R rotary in Upland(So.CAL) and they did a rebuilt for about $500.00 bones. They replace all the synchros and the rest of the good stuff...Well good luck!

well heres how it went, took 45 minutes to get the tranny out, and 15 minutes to get a drink, 10 more to swap a few parts over to the new, well new to my car, tranny, then 2 hours to pu tit back in because we had a little trouble alligning it, bu ti am home now and it works great, i know what was wrong with the tranny in my car, its an easy fix, after i pulle dhte one apart that is in my car i know how it all works so i will fix mine and sell it. well fix the reverse prob, and sell it with a 5th gear that grinds a little. thanks for all the help guys i really appreciate it, scott
