No Reading on the Power Fc
 

I recently installed a Power Fc on my Fd but im not getting any coolant temp reading from it.Im just seeing a bunch of dashes. Im really stumped as what could be causing it. Any ideas what could be the problem. Thanks. Im fairly new to the rotary world so please any advice would be greadtly appreciated..

go to etc --> sensor check and see what voltages it is reading. and I think it is possible to get the fuel and water temp connectors reversed.

What voltage rading i should be looking for. There is a voltage reading on the hand held but on the monitoring screen nothing shows up :(

Go check and make sure the sensor is plugged in. Just out of curiosity, is the car starting and running with the PFC?

I replaced the sensor with a used one and th add coolant light came on, so i guess that the one i replaced it with was bad. The car starts up fine with the Power Fc just no reading on the monitoring screen. Im thinking that probally i got borken wire of some sort.

The dashes mean there is no reading. This is typically caused when the sensor is unplugged, it could also be a broken wire. I have also seen cars where people had connected the fuel temp connector to the water temp sensor. Do you have an aftermarket fuel rail which would make it possible for you to connect the wrong green connector to the water sensor?

The low coolant sensor and coolant temp sensor are two separate things. Did you replace the black one on the front of the thermostat cover or the green one behind? If you mix up the fuel and coolant temp connectors it will still read but the readings will be way off.

it is not a matter of swapping the fuel temp and water temp, if there is an aftermarket fuel rail installed (which eliminates the fuel temp sensor) then the water temp sensor would be hooked up to nothing, resulting in no reading.

Thats also a possibility. Fuel system wasn't mentioned.

There is an aftermarket rail on the car. Im running 1600 secondaries. It seems that the water temp sensor may not be hooked up since im not getting any reading on it. There are two connectors a black and green, both are plugged in though but maybe they in the wrong positions?Im going to try fiddling a around with it today and ill will post if i had any luck with it. Look for another green connector on the harness that is exactly the same as the one that is connected to the sensor.

Ok an update on the situation. I pulled off the green jack connected to the thermosensor and i got on a box around the fuel temp on the sensor check screen. Im thinking now that its the wrong jack that has been plugged in. I loked for another green jack but i cant seem to find any :(

Look on the back of the waterpump housing. The fuel thermosensor and the water thermosensor are the exact same type of sensor. This is why the harness plugs can get mistakenly connected to the wrong sensor.

Im not seeing any other!! This is getting frustrating. Hopefully the harness plug wasnt cut off and taped because im seeing some wired taped off. If that the case ill have to try and find the correct one and switch the plug and see if that works.
