No primary boost on stock sequential

The FD developed a sudden lost of boost
0 primary boost. I checked the CCV , and it operates within oem spec. Checked for book leak. No boost leak most recent change was swapping smic from greddy to stock

so far there is almost 0 spool and no bov action. I cant hear it vent anymore where as before I could hear it vent and some sort of turbo spool even before hitting into boost

i have a pettit bov. And i checked that also. Not leaking

Did you take the filter off to check the turbo?

yea I did front and rear spins freely with minimal shaft play. In and out

I had a similar problem, one of the interior walls inside the stock airbox had come loose and was blocking airflow from going in the primary intake pipe.

You said you already checked the CCV (Charge Control Valve), good call on that. If the turbo control actuator or wastegate actuators were stuck open it might feel super laggy and not build boost on the primary turbo.

Well I'll be damned.
Old rx7club post saved the day
guys !! Search function serves its purpose
i stumbled on a post that recommended checking the Westgate actuator lever. which was the last thing that I wanted to do because it was the most pain in the ass to perform and guess what that was the main culprit

Thanks for posting the fix, and congrats for finding it so fast.

in conclusion
if you lost all primary boost and can no longer hear your BOV or turbo spool. check the wastegate actuator arm like in the above picture

Nice find!

In general, no boost is either a wastegate staying open or a big boost leak. People get carried away with the vacuum lines and solenoids, and they only do something if there is some boost to do it with.

That actuator arm is supposed to be held on by a C clip. I think it should still be available from Mazda, I bought some years back and I remember they were dirt cheap. I went ahead and bought like 5 of them to have on hand :). They typically don't just fall off or anything at least.

Haha that happened to me years ago. Glad you were able to find the issue quickly!

Because Mazda suggests replacing them at build time I pulled mine off and it snapped in half from either heat fatigue or maybe rust at about 99k miles.
Good call ordering the Mazda ones. Aftermarket E clips will hold, but they tend to be a little on the short side,
if they are general use E clips vs turbo specific ones.
