NO heat in the RX-7 HELP!!!

:wallbash: Hey guys..Last year My rx-7 had heat.. Now there is no heat coming out of the car..I hear the blower motor going in every speed but only cold air is coming out of the vents...Recycle is on or off and it will blow out cold air...I'll change the vents and still cold air... Im hoping is not the heater core....Any knowledge anyone..Thanks

what are your temps at? if it's running really cold that means the thermostat isn't closing accordingly to maintain engine temps allowing all the coolant to pass to the engine.

i'd say check your thermostat...be thankful that it was stuck open though

on my Power FC its reading at 84C
on my autometer gauge reads at 180F

If its the heater core you would smell a sweet smell like coolant in the car all the time. Check the carpet by where the heater core would be and see if its moist like coolants been leaking on it. Change the thermostat first since its cheap and easy to do anyways, chances are its old also.

The core could just be clogged.

Either the core is clogged or your heating system is not recognizing it is supposed to be on 'heat'.

Have you EVER had heat? Did you by any chance have to use any sort of block sealer?

Well i got the same problem and my ac is not the best but i hope it just needs a charge... so thanks for the info guys

This is a link that talks about my clogged heater core experience, and what I did to fix it.

Hey you know the only vents that blow heated air is the feet vents and the defroster vents. The ones that point towards you are not plumbed from the factory to blow hot air. Who knows why, but thats how it is.

So are you sure your not getting heat, or is it just not blowing out the dash vents?

Oh, we know why...it was a deliberate thing Mazda (and other manufacturers) did/do to help keep you from falling asleep. It has been proven that warm air blowing on your face makes you sleepy and distracted, especially at night.

Lots of threads out there on this.

you can disconnect the hoses and try and back flush it if you think it is clogged.

It is most likely that your heater "door" is stuck. This is the door that adjusts the hot/cold air mixture. I have the same problem, but have not been willing to pull out the dash to try and fix it.

try bleeding the coolant.. i just did this last week on my bimmer.. it was blowing cold only when stopped but would work while moving.. I got all the air out and the heat worked instantly.

Don't laugh but my FD experienced the same thing and all that was wrong with it was that the S shaped hose going to the firewall from the coolant tube collapsed/kinked, make sure you check that before you start tearing it apart.

wow, I never knew that, that explains a lot though, I thought my car was broken, hah.

my heater blows warm if anything but hot on the feet, i know that its like a safety thing for not burning your face, anyway to bypass it?
