i have toask. Other than the fact getting nitrous oxide to the right pressure so you dont go to lean or too rich and the fact that you have to refill it all the time. why is it that I never see any rotary vehicles using it. you see nitrous oxide on just about every car except rx7's or are there a few people using it other than a few race car owners that will remain nameless

From what I have read I think its just a matter of tuning issues. With a rotary I think that its hard to tune for nitrous because when your off the nitrous your maps will be all off and you will be running rich. But this is just my guess.

You should ask Vin Diesel. He used it in The Fast and the furious :)

I used it before my single turbo. I used a wet NOS system. 50 shot. This was on the stock ecu. It worked well, but felt kinda flat at full boost. Probably too rich.

I didn't have the facilities or tools to tune at that time. I think it would be much more effective on my car now that I tune it all myself, have a pfc, datalogit and wideband. I still have the kit for sale, and sometimes I think I should put it back on and use it just for spool up. (laggy t70)

Another thing about rotaries is they are fragile and more dependent on good tuning. I wouldn't push too much nitrous through. Bottle pressures change the mixture so having a consistent tune is more difficult. Somehow when I was running nitrous I blew the plastic throttle body elbow right off its flange. Not sure if it was a nitrous backfire or just what. It happened while I was racing at wot.

rotaries are fragile but it doesnt stop us from putting enormous turbochargers on and cranking up the boost though does it? where is this thread that is devoted i didnt find it

Turbo chargers are more consistant making the tune more stable. It's entirely possible to run nitrous successfully but it's more difficult to tune for and kind of pointless since you could just crank the boost up anyways. N2o does work well for spooling a large turbo though.

I would stick to a small shot just to spool a large turbo and just depend on the turbo to do the rest of the work down the track.

what about using streetable single or factory twins and using the spray for the big power? boost and spray not to mention the added benefit of cooler intake charge. not to say i want to use this kind of setup but im exploring options.

If I had to guess, I think it would be because of the tuning issue like everyone said. I mean boost creep can kill our engines. I cant imagine NOS helping the matter much.

eys i imagine the spray would cause problems but boost kills motors the same way nitrous does. So i'm guessing the reason that no one is using it is because we cant find anyone who can tune a setup correctly?

since this thread was already started i figured i would ask some questions. i plan on running a 50 shot dry. i have water/meth going in so my first question would be do i spray it before or after the meth injector?

also this will be on a fully seperate tune and only used on the one map. tune will be for 30psi and the 50shot.

Years ago I ran a 150 wet shot with and without a blower. I just don't think it's worth the risk or effort when there are now much better and reliable ways to make power on a rotary.
