NipponDenso vs Walbro 255
 

I bought a Walbro 255 high pressure fuel pump from Banzai Racing because thats all they carry. I have done a lot of business with them and I trust them but I was curious what you think................Walbro or NipponDenso for a FD

I had a walbro and it started to crap out on me. Did I little research on here and it turns out I wasn't the only one. I will say though there are many others who have not had any problems.

Given that I went with the supra pump (nippondenso). No issues yet.

I got the NipponDenso Supra TT pump in my car and I'd recommend it instead of the Walbro. Its OEM so you know its reliable and quiet, unlike the Walbro, and it flows more too.

You can start 10 different threads like this and get the same results. Half the people will swing one way or the other..... It is all opinion.

I have been running the same Walbro 255 in our 435rwhp 13b-re Vert for years, trouble free, as well as 2 x 255LPH in my 20B FD.

I have run walbros in every one of my cars I have ever owned since I was 16 and never once have I had an issue with any of them...

Actually walbros are not the most reliable pumps which is common knowledge. Walbros fail rate is a lot higher than nippondenso, but they are cheap to replace.

I think any rewired fuel pump is going to do just fine, not running the tank below a 1/4 full or providing the fuel pumps with constant voltage is going to prolong the life of any pump.

Out of all the people I know that have run walbros, NONE have had issues.

Exactly. We install one (if not two) in nearly every car that comes into our shop for upgrades. Fuel pump upgrade is in the stage 1 mods category. In all the years we have been modifying these cars we have yet to see one fail first hand.

doing some research on this issue I found some links on some srt-4 forums, I'll dig em up.
basically they say that if you get a true walbro, then you're probably ok, however if you get one of the billion made-in-china knock offs out there you can pretty much be assured of failure eventually. I just installed a walbro in my FD and have yet to run into problems with the pump, the rest of the car is another story...

It could be just from a bad batch of pumps to.

I have sold hundreds of each pump over the years. The majority of pump failures are walbro. I'm not saying don't buy them but the densos are a better pump.

I went with Denso. It looks and feels more rigid than the walbro.

if you're like me and dislike wiring, then the denso uses the stock in-tank wiring (two nuts holding the eyelets in place) doesn't require soldering, crimping, heat shrinking, cutting, anything, unbolt the stock one, bolt in the denso, done. The denso also looks like it would fit better in the stock FD mounting position, the walbro is physically smaller and doesn't have the best fit I've seen in the stock bracket.
