newby needs help purchasing rx7
hey guys, tomorow, i am going to have a look at a freshly imported 2000 model series 8 type rs.
ive noticed some of the rx7's ive seen have the nice 4 pots up front, but the rearare the cheaper looking type calipers, do the rs have both good quality calipers like the spirit r? well i just wanted to know how reliable the rx7's are? and are the running costs high? say compared to an evo6.5? the one in question is mecanically stock, but it has a mazdaspeed bodykit, rims, and a t wing. is has 60 000kms on the clock. is 60 000kms good for a rx7? i mean do things start to go wrong after a while or will the car run to 100 000kms like a piston engine no worries? what are some things to look out for? sorry im complety new to rx7's and rotaries, im tossing up between the rx7 and the evo 6.5 and tips? thanks |
Read the stickies about buying an rx7, but ill save you the trouble! Buy the evo.

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...threadid=27094 http://robrobinette.com/buyaused.htm Theres a few, Idk about saying "better", that will get you shot on rx7 club...But they are nice cars, and since they are a lot newer=less things to break with age...but if you take care of an fd its not as unreliable as its made out to be. Just read the posts, Im too tired to type.. |
Rear brakes should be smaller than the front brakes. Otherwise you'll end up spinning more than stopping. So cars with massive rear brakes don't really use them anyway, and the extra unsprung weight actually slows them down.
Here's some more info: https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/faq-3rd-gen-other-useful-links-68640/, please read it thoroughly and follow the links and threads regarding reliability, etc. Dave |
