Newbies read and learn before you get the car
I just took my car in to Rotary Power to have the hose job, FPD, thermostat, fuel injectors sent to RC to have them balanced. Well Jeff saw that my fuel injectors were worn out and were leaking fuel. Just over 1200 bucks total bill...500 in labor, 760 in parts
400 dollar labor for hose job (which is pretty damn good) FPD labor included in hose job Secondaries were balanced for about 60 bucks Primari's were completely shot, had to get new injectors at a good price...mazda list is something like 350 per? Thermostat parts and labor 30 bucks Hoses 60 bucks This just goes to show you, that my bill at 60k wasn't cheap...but it was well worth it. I didn't even hesitate to pay the bill, all I could think about was getting it back on the road. I guess it's the RX-7 effect, but this car definitely isn't for just ANYBODY. God I love this car, the more it breaks, the more I love it |
are you saying you just bought it and had to do this stuff?????
if so how much did you originally buy your babeh for? |
no i've had it for like 9 months now...i got it for 14k at 50k original miles...but the point is that this stuff needs to get replaced sooner or later (at higher mileage it's sooner than later)

93TTRX7,
How confident are you that the hose job actually included replacement of the 4 hoses underneath the solenoid rack? ---- Bill |
wstrohm,
I have complete trust in the person that worked on the car, they have done over 250 hose jobs collectively and would not risk me having to bring my car back. They believe that it should be done right the first time, you get what you pay for. 20 yrs of experience on some big time cars speaks loud and clear to me. |
Jeff at Rotary Power in Gardena is one of the most respected rx7 shop owners in the entire country. I had them do my clutch/flywheel/rear main seal and they were excellent to deal with. Jeff is very laid back and still gets the job done, and most importantly compared to other RX7 shops you don't feel like your getting ripped off. I recommend them highly to anyone. I'm sure if that they did all the hoses on 93TTRX7's car.

Well you have to take the solinoid rack out to do the fpd/injectors, so I'm sure they would have did them.
I had my fpd and primaries done in June, rx7store has te injectors for $125. The car ran sooo much better, defiantly worth it. |
Thanks for your replies. Good to know there's a reputable independent shop in this area. It was just that $400 seemed low for the vac hose replacement. I guess if they have done that many hose jobs they are very efficient by now.
Do they have a website? I tried www.rotarypower.com but got a British outfit that does hydraulics. (I have $540 of Viton hose that needs installing in our '94 and would be willing to pay $400 for that to save me the grief.) ---- Bill |
my question is how often do the stock injectors go bad??

Originally posted by RX7Elmo my question is how often do the stock injectors go bad?? Danny Moral of the story, the FD isn't for the light hearted. Make sure you have reserves when you get an FD because you WILL need them. A clutch job alone can run you anywhere between $700-$1000. That's labor plus parts. RESEALLING the oil pan, which is a common problem, is a minimum of $500. Oil metering pump blew up? Oh there goes $1200 down the drain. Not that OMPs generally go bad, but you know what I am trying to say :p: . Our water pump ALONE is $350. I never bothered to price out the labor for that.... |
