New Steering Rack: Tie Rod End, starting point for alignment help
 
Background:
I just got a new/rebuilt steering rack, and didn't bother to mark the tie rod ends prior to having the rack rebuilt because I assumed in my infinite wisdom that they would remain untouched. The rack came back with the tierod ends in a completely different position than they were prior and I have an insane amount of toe-in. Is there a good starting point I can take these to prior to getting an alignment done? THe less tinkering the alignment guys have to do, the less of a tab I'm going to incur, so I would like it to be as close as possible prior to even driving it over.

Question
DOes anyone have a good starting point for me on where to adjust the tie rod ends to? Is there a 'turns-from-all-the-way-tight" reference or a thread count that someone can give me? I could find no mention of it in the manual. THey just suggest marking the threads prior to removing the tie rod end.

There really isn't a certain number of turns to get it close to straight, unfortunately. You can do two things, either get it as close to straight as possible eye balling it and then take it to an alignment shop.

OR

snag some jack stands and fishing line and align it yourself. Here's a write-up I found after a quick search, at the very least it will get it as close as possible before you take it to an alignment shop. If you do this I would eyeball the hubs to get them straight before putting the wheels back on.
