hey all i'm new to the board...was perusing around when i came across a message that stated that mazda was gonna come out with a new model for the rx7 in two years?? is this true?and if it is, is there any further information that i can look at? thx in advance

Rumor only. One of the top marketing guys was quoted about 6 months ago saying there might be room in the product mix for both the RX8 and a new RX7. But marketing guys and bean counters seldom agree on anything. With Mazda's purchase of the naming rights to Laguna Seca it does seem to reinforce their comittment to pure sports cars. I don't consider the RX8 to be a pure sports car. (It's got four doors and rear seats) I'll bet the top brass will wait to see how the RX8 sells before giving a new 7 the green light. The only reason Mazda is still alive is the Miata. I think they are going to take a long, hard look at a new 7, especially since by anyone's standard the 93 to 95 sales were really pathetic. The good news is sports cars are back "in" big time, and hopefully SUV's are on the way out! (wishfull thinking...) Good for us though, with supposedly only about 3,000 still registered?!!

4 gen Rx-7 is in the making in Japan at this moment. The first one design drawing was out few months ago. It will be out in Japan 2003. If we get it we will see it 2004 as a 2005 model.

Since I'm a loser and I don't have anything better to do than go to Mazda's website and repeatedly enter my contact info and click that i'm interested in finding out more about the RX-8 they actually sent me something. First they sent me a mousepad with the RX-8 design sketch. A few days ago I got a letter saying they were planning the RX-8 to be on sale in Spring 2003. Start saving those pennies now....

Has the RX-8 been confirmed to enter production? Last I heard it was still a "concept" car with no committed dates for when it would enter production.

guys the RX8 has been confirmed for Australia end of 2002.

Then, when I get it I'm going to sell my house, divorce my wife and live in it. Hey Neo Omega - is that your sister posing beside your car? How would she feel about moving overseas?

I would love to see a concept sketch! Pray that it doesn't look anything like the new Z.
