New problem.........

Today I was cruising around and some of my warning lamps (oil, coolant, charging and abs) slowly began to illuminate together. When I step on the gas they would dim to nothing. At idle they would brighten to full illumination again. I checked under the hood and can hear some kind of sensor clicking. Anyone have answers for this?

to me it sounds like your generator is on the verge of giving up

Ditto.

Generator? You mean alternator?

G's 3rd Gen May 9, 2004 04:13 PM

It sounds like the clicking noise is coming from the idle speed control sensor. Maybe that is another symptom?

yea should be the same thing, just a diffrent name or i missed something in translation from swedish

just think the clicking is a symtom.
go to shop and have generator/alternator measured.
It should produce over 13.5V and LOTS of Amps(over 50 i think). You will need to remove it from car to have it measured.

gotcha! Thanks.Will do tomorrow.

it will not need to be removed to be tested. check the belt tension also.

Just use a volt meter with the car running, it should measure 14.5 to 14.8 volts. With the car off you should read 12.5 to 12.8 on the battery terminals. To fully test the battery and charging system, you do need the tester hooked up.

ALternator only putting out 10.8A.. Rebuilt it.. Ticking sound was a loosely connected relief solenoid. Everything taken care of. Thanks for everone's insight G....
