new motor first time running

hey just wanted to make sure a few things were going as planned. is there anything unusual to be expected from a motor running its first time? like hard idles, smoke..anything of that nature?
thanks

Mine just....started.
No drama, no big deal. Just fired up and purred, smoked a bit whilst burning off all the Vaseline and other building lubes, but overall it was totally anti-climatic.
Thank God.
Two and half years of tearing down and scrimping and saving and rebuilding....it would SUCK to have to deal with ANY problem.
A lot of problems can be avoided if you did what I and most other 'successful rebuilders' did.....check everything, replace anything suspect. Put as many new parts on as is required, refurbish to like-new condition any old part going back on. Use new gaskets, new hoses. Check all your solenoids and actuators. Take your time. Do it right.
