New motor???

I'm looking into a 94 TT and the car has 50k miles on it. I have heard that I may be close to the end of the engine life. If so, what kind of prices can I find for longblocks, or whatever you call a complete 13b with no accessories. I've heard that you can get prepped motors with 3mm seals and all new gaskets for like 2500 if you look hard enough? Any ideas guys.??? The car was never beat on and is completely bone stock. Driven by an old man, hehe.

First thing is do a compression check. Motors that are well maintain can last over 100k miles and there a a lot of people on this board that can tell you. I would be happy if I found a car with 50k miles, I bought mine with 89k.

If it is a little old man a) it will not be ragged on and b) it might not have been taken care of really well. I would look at compression and go from there. You also want to consider what bucrx7 mentioned and that is rotaries can last over 100k miles if taken care of. Mine lasted 71k.
Also look into what your options are when it comes to port jobs, seals, etc. Most ppl advise agains 3mm apexi seals for various reasons. Do a SEARCH and then start asking more specific questions.

Also, since it is bone stock, look at the reliablity mods that you are going to have to do in order to secure a longer engine life. For these check the sticky at the top of the 3rd gen section.
