How much did that cost you to paint them? I have a silver fd with gold wheels and kinda getting bored of the look. I like the look of yours though! James

i just tried to get those wheels for my 93 CYM but there are none left here in the states and it was a 60-90 day wait.....you're so lucky you're in oki

My family has a powdercoat shop, rims really aren't that expensive to paint since they aren't intricate at all, infact they are one of the easier things we can do. Prices vary based on where you live and whats available, but here in Tampa, its not expensive.

Just sandblast, hand sand, wash, dry, primer, bake, paint, bake, clearcoat, bake. Done.

Improved FD 06-17-06 02:36 AM

not for me

silver looks 10x better imo

LiquidR1 06-17-06 03:12 AM

so are your painting the car to match the rims now??? not my style but they look nice. As long as you like them that's all that really matters. I gotta have :bling:

Looks good, but I don't really like those wheels...

Ottoman 06-18-06 03:54 PM

you live in japan and don't have a 99 spec FD...

shame on you :p

A3ON7 06-18-06 04:01 PM

the wheels looks great for me. what makes u guys hate the weels?

1QWIK7 06-18-06 04:08 PM

Wheels look too big for the car, i guess its the wheel type itself. But the car looks outstanding.

I would put apexi skirts to complete the look IMO.

yeah, wheels kind of does not fit into the 7. i prefer the SSR 17 inch wheels than the volk.

Same wheels but in bronze.....I don't think they look to big

I <3 bronze.

They look almost like the '06 TE37 color. I like.

turbosmitty 06-19-06 03:15 AM

To paint all 4 wheels and fix a few minor scratches ran about $500. They were originally white and the previous owner of the car gave them to me as a spare set with brand new Dunlop direzza tires! I do plan on re-painting the car a different color when I bring it back to the U.S. with me. As for the 99 spec, I could have went with, but unfortunatly those are harder to import than 89-95 models. I've got HKS hypermax II coilovers so the car is lowered; by how much I can't keep track from the stock height. The car was on 17in Prodrives and lowered. I decided on the gunmetal grey after seeing a picture of the 06 TE37's and the majority of the TE37's here are bronze.

Here's what the car looked like before

^^Those rims (prodrive?) look killer. I like them a hell of a lot more than the volks.

ptrhahn 06-19-06 08:12 AM

Some of you guys are nutz.

While I like the prodrive style (almost got them for my car a couple years ago), The gunmetal TE37's look GREAT on the original poster's car, and a SHITLOAD better than the way TE37's typically come from volk in white, gold, or bronze.

Also, having had a silver FD for years, and tried all sorts of wheels on it, I disagree that a basic silver looks the best. You need the contrast of black, gunmetal, or machined (Fikse style) wheels. I was going to get the prodrives in the color they call "British Black".

+1

I still have the Prodrives and I plan to take them to the guy that painted my Volks and have him fix the curb rash. I might keep them or sell them, still undecided.

mono4lamar 06-20-06 07:08 PM

Is that your car? That shit looks SWEET!

But yeah the wheels on that FD doesnt look big. I guess it depends on the color combo.

I have 18" SSR A2's on my car and my car is red, i think it looks fine. But i might downgrade to 17" A2's if i can find them. Or i might just do 17" up front and keep the 18" in the rear.
