New ECU?
if i ran full non-sequential twins at 10 psi, full intake and exhaust (including midpipe) would a boost controller be enough to keep everything happy?
so i am increasing flow and decreasing back pressure, more fuel needed? the reason i ask is because i ran into a guy a few months back who showed me his car. he was running 99 twins non-sequentially, full intake and exhaust, and i THINK he said 12psi, and the only thing he had controlling it was a profecB. he did however say he had the fuel cut off once, and i am pretty sure he drove this car everyday. |
i think a lot of the FAQs recommend that you get a new ecu when going with a midpipe

i think you would need to port your wastegate to prevent boost creep. the midpipe would remove a lot of restrictions and the stock wastegate + boost controller can only redirect so much air away from the turbine

so you think he would have ported his wastegate in order to achieve what i posted in first post? i though i read/saw somewhere on there that the 99 twins flow more? |

If you can actually keep that setup at 10 psi, you will be fine on the stock ecu. The problem is keeping it at 10 psi. A used Pettit ecu costs $400 for cripes sake, and allows you to safely run 12-13 psi. Putting a midpipe on is a serious modification, despite how cavalierly a lot of forum members treat it. IMO, it's best to leave this mod until the fuel system has been upgraded, the ecu has been upgraded, and the wastegate has been ported. |
