New to the community

Hey guys, I don't know if this is frowned upon--but I've seen a couple posts like this, and they have gone pretty well (you all seem really nice). I just got my FD on Thursday, so I finally decided to surface here on the forums after months and months of reading. Just want to say all the info you guys have put on this site has been really helpful, and I hope to become half as knowledgeable as a majority of you seem to be about these truly awesome cars. My name is Matt by the way. I look forward to meeting all of you and learning more and more. Here are some photos of my new 7. It's a '94 Silver R2 with 28K original miles. I'll treat her well.

great find!

AreTwo 01-31-07 09:51 PM

Yeah, I snagged it for 20.5K too, not a shabby deal for a mint 7. Got an AST, now I have to save up for a radiater, silcone vacuum lines, an intercooler, efini y-pipe, dp, ect. I'm like thrilled to throw all my money into this thing though, haha.

Much respect,
-Matt

That's beautiful! Congrats on the new ride!

Hi Matt,

Congrats on your nice purchase. The pics look great. My suggestion would be to leave the car alone for a while. Drive it & enjoy it. With only 28K on it, it is unlikely to need anything except new fluids.

Where in Ca?

AreTwo 01-31-07 10:09 PM

Thanks guys, appreciate it. Adam, I'm in Monterey. My Grandpa actually lives in SLO, it's really nice out there. Fun roads on the way too. I think I'm like 2 and a half hours away from you?

Much respect,
-Matt

^^Couldn't agree more! I bought mine and didn't take the time to drive it and enjoy a damn near stock and perfect running FD. Maybe 1 week before my first mod :lol2:

I like the plates too.

Beautiful car, Matt.

I go into Monterey once in a while...If I see you, I'll give you one of these! :icon_tup:

Welcome to the Forum Matt. nice find on the FD it looks like its in mint condition. a rare find these days keep it stock and enjoy the car.

Jeff

Haha, thanks. Yeah, I can't really afford to mod it right away anyways, with college and all. But I'll be painting houses this summer and hopefully can get it into the shop and out before summer is over. Thanks for the plates compliment too, I was pretty stoked to get those transfered over, haha. And yeah man, it'd be awesome to see another FD owner in the area. There's one older guy who owns a red wingless FD in the area. He happened to be leaving a spot just down the street from my house on Friday and I gave him the thumbs up and told him he had a nice car--the guy just grunted and drove away. No love at all, haha.

Much respect,
-Matt

Nice find, take care of the car. Consider taking it to an auto-x or roadtrack, lots of fun. If all goes well, I will be relocating to the Bay area; hopefully be able to bring the FD not too long after.

AreTwo 01-31-07 10:44 PM

Yeah--I'm looking into a Laguna Seca open track day. I know they have them but I'm not sure how much it is or how often exactly they have them. For right now though I'm just going to get the feel for her--get to know her a little better.

Much respect,
-Matt

WOW, that's quite a find. Very low mileage, a good color, and even the perfect license plate. Did that plate come with the car.....was it photoshopped......or did you order it yourself? Amazing no one had taken it before this.

Throw in some interior and engine bay shots when you get a chance.

How old are the tires? What tires are on it? If they're old, they're hard, and be very careful in the wet. Some new owners on old tires and not used to the car have been known to fishtail or spin out in the wet...sometimes even on drive pavement. If they're more than 4 or 5 years old, I'd put tires on the list.

EDIT: I just read down the thread and noticed you answered the license plate question. That really is super you were able to get the plates transferred to you.

I still wouldn't mind seeing some interior and engine bay shots.

wow thats a nice 7 with really low miles. great find

negative 01-31-07 11:07 PM

Ah nice... that was the one on craigslist. Super nice!

Take off the spoiler!

gracer7-rx7 01-31-07 11:08 PM

Looks sweet. Think about the maintenance before the mods - unless its one and the same such as an upgraded radiator along with a coolant flush. With that low a mileage, you might want to keep it close to stock and enjoy driving it till you graduate.

Hope to see you at Laguna!

Thanks a lot man. The tires aren't too old at all--a little wear but I think they have like 4 or 5 k miles one them. They're Yokohama Advans--STICKY, haha. I won't be able to get any new shots for 2 more months--when I go back home. Sadly I can't drive my 7 while I'm at school :wallbash:. But I will DEFINATELY get engine bay pictures up as soon as possible. All I can say is the engine and interior are spotless. Thanks so much for all the support to everyone else too. It's seriously appreciated, and this is definately the nicest car community I've ever been a part of. If I figure out the track day maybe we can get a bunch of us to thrown down some money and take over Laguna with FD's.

::Edit:: The car is covered right now by the way so it'll stay as beautiful as ever, haha.

Much respect,
-Matt

Very Nice find. Yes, definitely enjoy it stock while you can :)

The Advans are a new model tire, if my memory is correct, so the tires have to be recent.

But just as a general rule, a driver shouldn't go just by mileage on tires. They can age....the rubber can harden, get dry rot, or even deform...over time even if the mileage is low. The industry consensus seems to be that tires can maintain their performance and safety for 6 years.

Good luck with the car. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. The only negative is that these original, low mileage, pristine examples are getting rarer and rarer.

Yeah, haha. That does cause a little conflict. I want to drive the car constantly but at the same time I have a piece of me that wants to keep it as new as it is now, just for the sake of there being one out there. I mean of course I have to drive it--but I definately feel a tiny bit of guilt in the back of my mind, haha. It's a plus and a minus that I'm in college right now, as I can keep it covered for 1/2 of the year--and while I'm itching to drive it at school, for a couple years at least it will keep its low mileage.

Much respect,
-Matt

Great Find! and the price wasn't bad at all in my opinion. especially for such a low mileage beauty!

RedShayla 02-01-07 01:33 AM

Nice Fd! I'd love to see interior pictures. :-)

I love the silver fds.

Great Find!
