The New BananaRE Turn Lights...and some other photos.

Hey All,
Got the new turn signals installed...It was about a 8 on the installation difficulty but after about 4 hours I got it done..

Here are some comparison pics of the turnsignals...stock vs. clear lens / polished housing. i'm extremely happy because I wanted to keep the stock front bumper but hated those lights AND also couldn't find an aftermarket front that I liked.

So here's the front as you know it with stock turn signals

AND thought i would take a photo of this too...single kit going on in less than a month (if everything goes according to plan that is :D).

Lookin' good, but are you serious, 4 hours to install?!

Railgun 03-06-04 09:29 PM

Yeah...were you using a toothpick as a screwdriver?

Otherwise, looks good!

lol thats a good one man... at first when i read that i thought maybe you were some kind of dumbass that thought they had to take the whole front assembly off to change the lights, but then i realized that i was the dumbass and you were just using that invisible internet sarcasm :)

Nice.

RX-187 03-06-04 11:35 PM

Lookin good, it really gives it the updated look. So for the four hours that it required for you to install them, did you use that time to take off the bumper cover or what?

Nice tiles, where did you get them?

BTW, it looks like you could use one of these... :)

The turn signals look great but I'm even more impressed with your garage flooring.

cpa7man 03-06-04 11:53 PM

Very nice, I gotta get me some of those. I thought the install was easy. I remember a previous thread talking about the ease of installation.

The more I see those lights, the more I question whether I want to go with the 99spec front or just stick with the stock front and update the lights.
They look awesome! :D

I would go with the clear corners, but that's just me. ;)

Ok, I guess I have to spell it out for a few of you...The lights took about 50 seconds to install per side..

Jimlab, as for the tiles..they are Armstrong VCT (vinyl composite tyle) It's abotu an 1/8th inch thick and you have to lay it down with mastic (glue) pretty durable so far...been since last july and holding up ok...

Check home depot...They were the cheapest...Chances are they will have some odd colours with designs but they can order the plain black and white...the garage is 18 x 26 (I think) and it cost me 350 in tiles and about another 20 in glue...so less than 400...not bad.

iceman4357 03-07-04 02:30 AM

man your car is purrritty

mazdaspeed00 03-07-04 03:47 AM

super clean car.

soru81 03-07-04 05:48 AM

Lookin' good

Are these polished housing, clear glass? Where did you get them? Does this mean that now also polished housing (clear or smoked) are already available?

I've never been too much for those lights but your garage flooring is nice.. lol And not bad for around $400.00. Probably a pain to clean up though if something spills I'm guessing though?. (Sorry to get off topic)

I have a silver FD myself and yours is very very clean. I'm guessing it's been garage kept most of it's life, mine has as well, but damn your car is clean.. Looks very good (IMO downright badass from the front) keep up the good work...

I'm assuming the car has been repainted, I could hardly believe the front nose cone would be that free of paint chips. Silver does rock.:D

I should have known you were messing with us. Its two screws per side.

NukeGenius 03-07-04 09:23 AM

If I keep the stock front bumper, I would definitely go with those, but I still think the 99 combos look meaner.

Actually, it's one screw per side...

And the lights are available in different configurations. I belive Jason at the RX-7 store has some left. drop him so mail.

The car I bought it about 2.5 years ago and barely get to drive it. I basically bought a house with a garage specifically for the car :D It's been repainted but was done before I got it...I really don't know the history too much...I got it from a dealer in Virginia that got it on a trade in...The guy said it was starting to hurt his back to get in and out of it...So i'm the second owner...well, if you don't count the dealer.

Here is where I take the most pride. Everything except the UIM and TB & filter neck was polished by me. It's definatley a labour of love. More photos in sig.
