the never ending quest for mods...

it's been a while since I've posted but I'm about ready to embark on resto-modding my FD (94 R2) and since I've been out of touch with the community and only recently been touching base back on the forum. I am overwhelmed by the continued development of our now considered classic cars (25 years!)
So i have several questions for all you gurus out there...
1)with all the advancements in technology, engineering what changes would you make to your cars?
as of now I have all the reliability mods (v mount, power FC, higher flow int, K&N intake, twin power ignition, down pipe, cat and free flow cats, sweet port I've also deleted the AC and stereo setup)
what Im wondering if all these latest wave of aftermarket products really improve the performance, reliability and drivability of the original engineering of these cars specifically:
LIM: UIM: turbo kit, oil fill pedestal, water injection kits, larger oil coolers, throttle bodies, fuel rails, individual marine coils, oil pressure regulators, even oil pans and of course the list goes on....
Keep in mind I'm interested in keeping car 13B, and sequential set up for drivability.
Oh! and not that I want to open another can of worms but my GAB shocks and Eibach springs are just too harsh for the street but I/m seriously overwhelmed by all the suspension products out there...so any reviews welcome (and yes I have read H. Colemans sticky on chassis set up)
one last request.. can anyone recommend an electrical genius in Nor Cal? my wiring is a disaster trying to simplify, de-loom some systems and make it look show...I was thinking Palm Rotary (central CA) as I have heard great things about him but somewhere closer is always welcome
let the opinions Fly..

If you want to stay sequential going with the upgraded BNR twins or the new SP twins from Hitachi is a good way to go. You can make more power than the stock twins and stay sequential.

PowerFC is still a good way to go for an ECU especially on a car on twins. Some people have been going Haltech but I don't know if you would get much out of it.

The twin power is still excellent but many people have been going to the IGN-1A coils like the kit Sake Bomb Garage has. They have crazy amounts of spark and do really well.

Adding water/meth injection is also recommended, it can really drop intake temps. Helps power and reliability.

For suspension the go-to for a quality setup lately has been Ohlins, again Sake Bomb is a great source for them. Top quality coil overs that ride well and handle great.

cool that's really good advice and pretty much what Ive been looking at. Im surprised more people have not offered their insights on this subject...

I disagree with sticking with the twins completely! Go with a super simple internal waste gate EFR 7670 and never look back!

My FD has the Gab-R adjustable struts and (I think Eibach) springs and I love them. Definitely not too harsh for daily driving. They came with the car when I bought it so I have never researched alternatives. My FB has racing beat springs and Tokico Illuminas and even on the softest setting the ride is way harsher than the Gab-Rs. I know the suspension design is very different between these generations but the bottom line is the FD is comfortable and I have no complaints. Hope it helps

I have the Tein Flex coilovers for suspension and they feel great. The twin bag design is really nice for street driving and they handle great, definitely better than my last monotube design style.
The powerfc is a great ecu, especially if you have a tuner who is comfortable with it. The newer ecu's just give you a few more safety features these days, IF your tuner takes the time to enable them and get it all setup correctly.

:dunno: I had GAB super R’s 8 way adjustable with Ground Control kit. My experience was that even on the softest setting they were stiffer than a wedding dick. I swapped to Bilsteins and even with the same spring rates f/r it improved ride considerably. Great for autocross when I did that, but not so much for street.

OP, I think one of the best things to come down the pike for our cars over the years was Auxillary Injection/Water Injection. Improved IATs, engine cooling, reduced temp spiking, carbon control and knock suppression.

I like your setup power wise. With a proper tune, you should be making around 320 rwhp. That's pretty good with a cat and smog pump (assuming you have those), which are required for smog in CA.

As for ride quality, I like the eibach's. I had tokico illumina shocks with mine, and that seemed to be a very nice combination. It was nice to be able to stiffen the suspension easily for a driving event.

For additional comfort, put the stereo and ac back in :):)

We sell and install all varieties of coilovers including Ohlins, honestly I prefer the HKS, quality is amazing and cost $500 less.

Mods really come down to what you want out of the car, as you said there are many options. Our trans crossmember is very popular at all performance levels. Transmission Crossmember

^ agree above, I am really happy with my HiperMax IV GT and the banzai tranny cross member gets good reviews (I still need to install mine!)

The HPP 2 in 1 diff cradle is something to consider if you add power to protect your PPF. I also would suggest changing out to a 4.44 diff. Takes some strain off the drivetrain and feels like you added horsepower.

I also strongly recommend water/meth injection, a huge piece of mind when running pump gas.

wow all great suggestions and some things to think about as I was thinking the Ohlins but will now look at the HKS setup...so what do you all think about Howards suggestions that for street/performance setup of 8kg front /6kg rear setup...some people think that is too low...but at this point I'm tired of my teeth rattling suspension stiffness...
