Need some pointers

Looking to buy a 93 rx7 FD with around 67k miles on an original motor. Is this a good buy or will the engine blow up around 80k miles? BTW it is completely stock.

Thanks a bunch

Can anyone help out a newbie??

It'll blow up at 80,000 miles, plus or minus 10 miles. make sure you wear protective gear for protection when you get close to 80,000. You can get good protection at www.stuntmansupply.com. Oh, and make sure you video it, cause you can get a 15% rebate from them if you send the video of it blowing up when you drive it.
good luck!

Well, the answer is you never know. It can blow up the day you get it or it can blow up after 100k+ miles.

its supposed to be sarcastic - i mean, someone says "do a search" and his reply is : help out a newbie.

i figure if you are willing to spend $15K +, without spending a few hours researching the purchase, then you can take a smart ass reply!
:)

Sorry to offend anyone on this board but I did a search and I am asking more specific question in my situation. I am wondering with a 67k miles original stock engine how long it will last.

I am not trying to be a mart ass, my question is more specific than the search result.

I know you guys have been around since 1996 but I just got on week ago. Cut me some slack, at least have a newbie section on the board.

your question didn't offend anyone and no one thinks you're trying to be asmartass.Your question is not specific! The length of the life of the eninge in an FD is onr of the most talked about topic on this forum or any other "car" forum. There must be 2 or 3 posts per week about "how long will my engine last". Plus, there are a LOT of other web sites with tons of info about the 7 on them. Its not a matter of anyone being around since 96, or being too cool or whatever to help.

Here are a few sites to get you going - good luck.

not all of these have reliability discussions, but i just copy/pasted some of the ones i have bookmarked.
