need pics of hks twinpower install

ok, got my twin power. I searched the forums and found info on how easy it was to install, but I would like pics of where you guys mounted yours. Around the ignition wall space looks pretty tight.

I will try to send you some pics as soon as I get the pics scanned. I don't have a host so send me your e-mail address and I will send the pics to you.

I read a post that said that these where not good for are cars, gives off too hotter spark. How many people has blown there motor with hks or crane and msd on their car.

actually I think the twin power monitors the spark to make sure it is not too much.

OK I need to know the exact harness to plug into. Right below the elbow, and behind the power steering resevoir and beside the alternator there is a connector-is this the one? No way in hell you can get to that without removing the elbow. More towards the rear further below the elbow is another promising looking harness. Which one? Anyone have a pic?

Tim Benton 11-24-01 11:50 PM

I don't have any pics of my HKS install, but mine is mounted on the backside of the shock tower on the drive side, pointed downward, facing the firewall, if that make sense.

As far as burning out coils, wrong. I haven't heard anyone post that about the HKS. the Jacobs I have and the crane and msd units seem to have a high rate of malfunction or defects.

ok, but which harness do i use. are the plugs all keyed differently so it only fits one way?

fits nice, semi hidden

Get a rectangle piece of aluminum, use flush head (counter sunk) screws to mout Twin Pwr on, nuts facing out.
Pick up holes from Ign box thingie (thryistor?) mount. Bolts holding Ign box will support Twin Pwr. No extra holes drilled into engine bay.
Connect wire harness, ground on shock tower grond points.

The harness you're looking for is more or less underneath the elbow close to the spark plugs. You don't need to remove the elbow to get to it just contort your arm a bit and try a few times. Don't tug on the wire though and only grip the harness when extracting. If you're not too sure, don't worry about it. Trust me, that harness won't fit the other "similar looking" one that's close to it. It will only fit in the right one so the install is pretty idiot proof.

As for mounting, there are some pretty good threaded holes with enough space for mounting in that area. What I ended up doing is moving the heatsink looking thing closer towards the firewall and mounted that tightly with one bolt instead of two. You'll find that the TwinPower has exactly enough space to bolt into the hole you just freed and sit at an angle against the front driver's side shock tower. You'll also need a good ground point so look for another threaded hole in the chassis nearby. Scratch off the paint near the hole and put your ground wire and bolt to that hole. The one I'm using sits about 5-6 inches directly below where I mounted my TwinPower.

Hope this is helpful.

dhg11-

thanks, I appreciate it. I'll give it another try tomorrow. I went by my local rx-7 guy's shop today. I was just going to have him do it. He was too busy. It's starting to feel like a conspiracy. ANYONE HAVE PICS???
