need a part#

Hey all, i took out my battery and tray today and to my friekn amazment i found that the metal support bracket that holds up the tray on the left side was DESINIGRATED!(sp?) I looks like the previous owners AST broke and coolant was left on the tray and support bracket and rust ate through it :bgfuk: . Now i need that perticular peice. Im not sure of what it is called and if it can even be replaced..

Basicly its the part that runs under the positive side of the battery. im guessing it runs from driver side to passenger side and that part of the Battery tray with the "hump" under it bolts directly to that part.. Well the part is no longer there.. i bought a new tray but the friken thing ends up leaning because that support beam was chewed up.

also, what does the battery Strap to to hold it in place??!?

im not suprised, the battery acid has a tendancy to eat metal... i cant help you with the part number, but may i suggest doing a relocation? cleans up the bay and gives you a little more working space :)

I'm literally throwing up. Hurk... hurk..

Part number seems to be FD01-56-290A, Member, cross.

That's battery acid damage. Make sure your radiator isn't also eaten, and the oil cooler lines should be replaced if you can. Yuk!! Not your fault, I know...

Edit: replace that AST. NOW!

you work at a mazda dealership or something?

spurvo 03-17-04 07:27 PM

Nope. Go to iluvmyRX7.com, and you too can spend inordinate periods of time looking shit up and asking youself, "I wonder how much THAT would cost?" or even, "I didn't know there even WAS one of those in there..."
