need help identifing somthing
 

What is the sensor on the bottom side of the uim. it looks like an idle air control valve to me. it also has a hose that used to run to the stock intake elbow. thanks in advance.

It is the ACV.

also the one just up from it on the uim. my guesse would be a temp sensor or atleast thats what it looked like.

the reason i ask is because when i took the uim off i found one set of wires cut and the plug was broke off on the first one. so depending on how important each one is i will try ans make a new harness

The sensor on the underside of the UIM is the intake air temperature sensor. The hose leading to the intake elbow is the AWS system.

which will be blanked off if your car has AWS removed.

When you start the car from cold, does it jump up to 3k rpm until you stab the gas quickly? if not, AWS has been removed (like my car)

The ACV is bolted to the LIM.

what is the avc and what does it do?

Air Control Valve. It's for emissions. If you are removing your airpump, you can remove the ACV.

I think it meters air from the airpump and intake to the cat.

I was thinking of one of the other sensors...But he said it had an air hose to intake. Rynberg is correct...the guy said intake elbow, I was thinking air box (selective listening...damn my ADD).

thanks guys. well looks like i wont worry about the aws ill just cap the wires off and on the temp sensor ill just make a new pig tail.

anyone have any tip on getting the bottom nut off on the acv? its a b*tch to get to!

I pull the solenoid that's second from the back, and use a 10mm wobble socket on an extension. The trick is to not drop the nut. Usually a little masking tape on the socket gives it a snug fit so it won't fall out.

on the temp sensor does anyone know which color wire goes where? i figured i had a 50/50 chance on getting it right or f-ing up the temp sensor so if anyone could take a pic or just tell me that would be much appreciated.

well the other night i accedentally broke the two wires that go to the air temp sensor on the bottom of the uim. on the temp sensor does anyone know which color wire goes where? i figured i had a 50/50 chance on getting it right or f-ing up the temp sensor so if anyone could take a pic or just tell me that would be much appreciated.

I wish i would have looked at the conector before i took it apart to put new wire in it inorder to splice into the old ones.

The connectors are keyed - you can't really screw them up without damaging the connector.

If you've got to solder thye wires back together you may as well just add some length of wire and relocate the temp sensor to the TB elbow. Jack

I have pulled the old wires out and put new spade terminals and wire in the plastic connector. the problem is when the new conector is plugged in which wire is connected to the green and which one is connected to the brown ( i belive those are the colors). I didnt look to see which wire color was on what side before i took the connector apart.

how will that benifit me? Will it make the uim flow better?

HELP: rewiring temp sensor in uim.
 

Well i have tryed a few times and i still havent found anyone with an answer so ill ty one last time.

What happend is when i was taking the uim off i broke the two wire that went to the temp sensor right before the plug. So i took the plug appart and replaced the wires so i could splice back into the old ones.

My problem is the old wires were brown and green and the new ones are red and black and when i was taking the old ones out i didnt note if the red should go to the brown wire or the green one. in my drawing (at the bottom of my post) the clip is at the top of the connector.

I found out which one is the ground wire and which one is the positive on the harness using an ohm meter but i cant seem to figure out which one is which on the air temp sensor.

it should not matter it is just a resistance value.
