NEED HELP: Side Seal Question

Hello Hello,

at the moment i`m building my RX8 with 13B-Rew engine. Currently i prepare my Seals from Atkins for the rebuild and assemble. All my side seal tioöerances are currently beetwen 0.05 - 0.10 mm. Now i done a mistake and i have one side seal that has tolerance between 0.15 - 0.20 mm. I tryed to use it in a other place but it didnt work. The seals are standard atkins seals and i`m from germany so i cant order easaly a new one.

So the question to all experts are:

Should i use the new atkins Side seal wit tolerance beetwen 0.15 - 0.20 mm or i use a old (But in spec) side seal with 0.05 - 0.10 mm?
The old seal has like 90000km on it.

the engine has a big streetport and will get a single EFR 8374. Power goals are +500rwhp

Thanks for your help!

I would either get a replacement seal or go with the used seal. Side seal tolerances are one thing that separates an OK motor from a great motor, it really makes a big difference in compression.

You may be able to get a stock side seal from Mazda Europe or something quicker.

But, really, side seals don't wear much. There is a height spec in the manual, when installed it should be a certain height off the rotor face. If it's well above the minimum I would go with it.
