Need Help...Intalling M2 IC and airbox
 

OK, I got my Stage 2 BNRs in and I'm ready to do some damage but first I need to install my M2 Medium IC and airbox. I manage to get the old airbox out, the stock IC, and the stock airduct without too much trouble. I even got the M2 duct in but I'm having problems figuring out where to mount the stock air seperater tank(or at least I think that's what it is, the one that was attached to the stock IC). Basically, I think the lines on it are too short to mount it anywhere out of the way. Are they supposed to be lengthened during the install? Does anyone have a detailed instructions on installing this stuff? Can't wait to start turning up the boost!!! :D

Been there, done that.
You need longer water hoses and improvise a bracket to hold the AST on any location that it will fit and look nice to you. After all you are Houdini.
I had the Pettit AST and I mounted it with a bracket right between the M2 air box and the M2 large IC.
Or you can have a shop weld a bracket to the IC so it looks more factory. Problem aluminum welding = $$$$$.

With my PFS IC, the AST is clamped to the cold side intercooler piping (which is thick enough on the PFS IC to support it). It's been fine in that location for several months now. You'll just have to make sure you don't mount it too close to the belts....

A little tip on installing the M2 airbox if you're still using the stock turbo/airbox hoses: connect the lower hose first before you do anything. The spigots on the M2 airbox sit lower than stock by about 15mm, and you'll have a difficult time getting the hose to line up otherwise.

Yeah, there's not much room between the IC and belts. Guess I have to lengthen the hose to the AST and relocate it elsewhere. Is it ok to use hose techniques vacuum lines for the AST or do I need real coolant lines?

Or delete the AST entirely amd clean things up, requires a male to male fitting and little plastic filler neck for the coolant tower.

I'm no thermo engineer, but you'll want to consider at least 2 things on the hose question:

1) What were the Hose Techniques hoses designed to have flow through them?

2) What is their pressure rating?

...basically, 1) pertains to not only how the fluid or whatever flowing through them might affect the material (i.e. will it decompose when coolant is passed through it? How about really hot coolant?), and 2) the coolant going through the AST is subject to pressure, as I understand it, which explains the AST cap with a pressure rating and the nifty spring that will release pressure at a certain level.

Just gotta consider everything before trying to go down a road like this where f'ing up the cooling system could possibly really seriously affect your ride.

i think the AST is supposed to be mounted higher than the radiator fill cap to work properly. my AST is removed though, works fine. most racers say its good to remove it.
