Need help with fd

I was cleaning up my engine bay and noticed i have a black hose disconnected near my turbos. I have a pipe on my turbos that looks split any one know what that is and the part number is? I also found a unplugged connecter and the other end of it looks corroded its missing a pin, how can i replace this?, i think its to my air conditioning since thats not working. Any help would be appreciated thanks

The black pipe looks like part of the Air Pump pipeing for emissions. If your Airpump is gone it will really serve no purpose. If you get a block off kit from Banzai or others you can remove the piping and block it with a plate. Other option would be to put a cap on the pipe end.
Also, I see your Aircontrol Valve is to the atmosphere. just bear in mind under idle it may pull in unfiltered engine bay air. The "cracked" pipe is actually an aluminum casing heat shielding the oil lines. Unless you have oil coming out of that line you should be fine. The second line holdscoolant behind it. Not sure about the connector. |
what color is the Aircontrol Valve? im not sure if i have a airpump my car is straightpipe

here is some more photos. I also have a long thin pipe not connected to any thing and a tiny pipe not connected to anything. does anyone have photos of the areas in my pictures? it would be nice to compare them

Question, Is this car running well? It seems that you may have a bad poor mans NS setup. The two pipes were part of the emissions and you are difinetly missing an Air pump (which is ok if you have an idler pulley in its stead as you will not have a solid Water pump contact patch without it on your belt so watch for overheating).
The last picture I think is the line that runs to the Oil Metering PUMP, but I cannot be for sure. (i would have to look in my engine bay and I am away from the car.) Curious what mods you have on this and how it is running. Down load the service manual and search on the sequential system on the boards it will give you some diagrams to better diagnose the current state your car is in. |
im really not sure what mods it has since i got it this way in may, in the records that came with the car it says it has a 99 y pipe, downpipe and midpipe. the car does run fine except no heat or a/c

it has a 99 y pipe. You can see that from the first picture in your last post (The 99 y-pipe is bolted down where the 93-95 is simply a coupler conector.) You definitely have your airpump removed. And Like I say it looks like you are running Non sequential as you have vacuum nipples not connected.
Do you know what type of ECU you are running? Do you have a large vpicture of the engine bay as a whole? BTW I attached the Sequential and NS diagrams for your comparison. |

Those two metal pipes alongside the lower intake manifold are for air injection from the air pump - which is missing on your car so you can just plug them up. Dale Clark has a thread in the 3rd gen section, which is probably also in the FAQ, where he uses a rubber chair leg cap/protector thing from Home Depot to cover that.
Judging by the fact that you still have the vacuum canisters (black funny shaped object in front of the Upper Intake Manifold, Yes, it looks like you are setup for stock sequential turbo operation. However, given all the disconnected vacuum lines, I have no idea how you are making any boost. Looks like a total hack job. Those metal vac lines that aren't connected to anything need some love. You either need to make friends with those vacuum line images and start connecting everything properly or find a shop that knows the FD's sequential system and let them fix it. Keep your boost levels under 10 PSI as that is all the stock fuel system supports. Also spend some time reading the 3rd gen FAQ thread stickied in this forum. It has links to very good turbo troubleshooting and the vac line diagrams posted above. |
is there actual pictures of where the vacuum lines go i really cant figure out the diagram and from the pictures can you point out what needs to be connected and what is useless and should be plugged?

I noticed that my bov's are connected to the nipples on the uim so from the diagrams I don't think im non-sequential or sequential lol

heres some more pics alright so im figuring out the diagram but i need help figuring out two nipples on my lim the area with the orange and yellow vacuum hoses does any one have a picture of that area so i can the actual positions of the connections. also from my pictures what is that blue vacuum hose that is cut do in reference to the diagrams. Thanks

also im thinking that the loose black hose from my earlier pictures connects to my charge relief valve am i correct

are you sure because there are four connecter things on the side and the black hose is the 3rd down? but im totally confused that diagram sucks

all right guys so i hooked it up but now my bov makes a clicking noise and it has a constant stream of air coming out of it, is it supposed too do that
