I have everything off the motor and it is just about ready to come out. My question is can I leave the tranny in the car and just pull te motor, Or do I have to take the tranny out as well?

You don't have to pull the tranny with the motor. However, it's much easier (IMO) to remove and reconnect the tranny & engine while it's outside the car.

I would pull the tranny with the engine, but that's just me. ;)

I used to just pull the engine out. Just takes a helper and alot of patience to get back in.( A hint to line up the splines is to rotate the main pulley while mateing the engine and trans together) I have since changed my methods and now remove the trans seperatly and then pull the engine. Much fewer headaches for me. About the same as pulling them at the same time but I find it easier to move them around individually. On the way back together, I install the engine first, then the trans. Hope this helps...Dave

I agree with removing the tranny once it's out.

That is what I was going to do. I have very limited space in the garage i am working in. So I was going to pull the motor and the take out the tranny at a later date. What will support the tranny when the motor comes out? Also When I was under the car today I noticed 4 large nuts at the rear of the tranny and a large braket that runs the length of the tranny tunnel to the rear end.. Does that need to come out as well?

That bar is the (PPF) power plant Frame..It is the backbone of the driveline. If you remove the tranny it needs to come off. Otherwise you can support the tranny with a transmission jack or other proper forms of support.( jack stands) I recomend getting the Factory service manual so you know proper specs for eveything and where it all goes.(torque specs, etc...) And I hope it goes without saying to use jack stands to support the car!! BE SAFE so you can enjoy the end result of all your money.....and work.;)

Have you considered getting Bruce Turrentine's engine remove-and-replace video? Helped me when I pulled my motor for the first time...

Man it would have been a good idea to leave everything on the motor, pull it then remove everything.

some people prefers to do it without removing the tranny. less work for them, considering you won't have to remove the PPF, drive shaft (loose transmission fluid) and etc...
Some people thinks its easier to align the tranny out of the car, and do a fluid change to the transimssion at the same time, which is good too.

If I pull out the tranny will the car still be able to be moved?
