need help!!! broke door handle!!!

hey have you ever had this happen to you?? the handle broke when i went to pull it open today....the piece you oull broke from its hinges. Now the drivers side door cant be locked from inside or out, cant be open from the outside, and can only be open from the inside. So the next thjing i did was call Mazda....they quoted roughly $70-$75 dollars for label and transferred me to parts to see howe much the new handle assembly would be. Well it turns out a new handle is gonna run me about $190 dollars!!!! Does this seem right? DOes anyone know of a D.I.Y. way of fixing, maybe even have a handle for sale:) ??? thanks alot! -Jeff

i ordered a new door handle from my local goodyear and its gonna cost me about 115 installed. Theyre good for parts and tires, but ill never let them open my hood...

i wouldn't say its a "common" problem like the peeling interiors on the 93s, or the 3K hesitiation...but you are definately not the only one that has had a broken door handle.

My handle is starting to go too. Has anyone ever just made a blank peice to replace the handle and just installed a doorpop kit or something? kind of like shaving the handles except w/o bondo, paint, etc.

Probably not a good ides for me in kansas but maybe for you people in warmer areas.
