Did anyone here ever get around to making a cold air or ram air setup for their open intake? Post Pics.

Is this open enough?
...look closely. Sh!t. Gotta post 'em one at a time.

|
And here ......
....gotta have the nose.
|
Here's the car...
.......all this is on.
|

|
Damn, do I see an air-liquid intercooler? How do you like it? Custom job? Any numbers on it?:bigthumb:

That's sweet! How does it perform compared to other intakes?
On a R1/R2 with the dual oil cooler, I guess it's not possible to put the filter at the nose then. The same is true for automatic FDs bc they've got the trans cooler. Yeah, part numbers on the filters / hose would be greatly appreciated!! I like the painted intake manifold BTW! |
It's alive!!....It's Aliiiiive!! ;) Can't wait to check it out!
|
yo, dudes....
...the intake is 2.5" i.d. marine engine compartment ventilation conduit. The IC is liquid and fabricated from a Thunderbird SC IC w/ water jacket. A small Mercedes water pump activated at the fog light switch circulates the coolant. The attachment shows the IC's dedicated radiator.

Also.....
...Freddie repainted the car to a higher than factory standard. We did the non-seq. conversion and the motor is a Hayes Rotary street-port w/ 3 mm seals. We match-ported the entire intake and turbos. We deleted everything that needs deletion: pcv, egr, numerous air soenoids, etc. This mo' fo' is simple and very quick. No dyno figures til we can get it to RP in Dallas to get a final tune for the E6K in early December.

THat looks really coooool! Is that a JUN front?
I was wondering. Are there any problems with sucking up water from rain or puddles with that intake setup? |
super nice car...BTW my in-laws are in Cut-Off about 30 mins away. I will be down there around Thanksgiving or Christmas and would love to see your car. Not too many FD's there I'll bet! Not sure if I'm going to bring mine or not, depends on the weather.

anyone else have a ram air/cold air setup?
|
Hmmmm....
.....haven't run this thing in the rain yet. Suckin' H2O could be an issue. The nose is a high quality no-name repro.
There are 'bout 10 FD's in Houma. Most of them are in top trim. There are about 15 in the New Orleans club. A few more in outlying areas. Definitely an unusual no. of FDs for this locale. By all means, gimme a call when you come down here. Mark:1party: |
heres one

I guess what I was thinking of was some kind of duct or something to fill the space between the radiator where the stock box gets it's air. I have the apex intake, so I worry about sucking hot air. I have an automatic, so the trans cooler sits where the intakes are in the two previous examples. I know on the lightning in a world of thunder site they had some good info on intakes and one of the companies sold ducting, but I thought one of you geniuses might have had a better idea, since that ducting required cutting the floor pan.

Where can I find this 2.5" i.d. marine engine compartment ventilation conduit?
|
|
lowes has an aluminum dryer vent hose that i have used. you can route air and fend off heat.

I had a cold air setup, what I did was I had a PFS intercooler and duct, I ran a hose from the side of the duct to my intake filters and made a box, basically the same thing PFS sells, I just made it myself, this can be done with any stock placement intercooler as long as it has a duct. Just my 2cents.
