Need advice on swapping out twin turbos

1 Attachment(s)
I have a Jspec engine and I have removed the wiring harness and lower and upper intake manifold. I have removed the turbos but I have broken two of the bolts in the exhaust manifold during the removal of the turbos and i would rather not remove the exhaust manifold. Any advice on what I should do to remove these broken bolts. see attached pics.

I also plan on installing a temp gauge in the exhaust manifold, and advise on this would be appreciated as well.

Regards

If you are planning to install a pyro in the manifold it would be best to remove it in order to drill and tap it anyhow. With the manifold removed you should be able to take care of your bolt issue.

I have seen some pics floating around of a stock manifold with a pryo installed in each gate. Do a search and you should come across it.

First off, if you don't have a QUALITY set of EZ-Outs, go purchase one. Spend some money and get a high-end set like what Cleveland makes.
Carefully center-punch the broken bolts and then get a center drill or spotting drill and lightly drill just enough to get a "spot" about .250 diameter. This is necessary because the broken face of the bolts is not flat, and if you just try to drill it the drill will 'walk off' more than likely. See link for what a spotting drill is if you don't know:

Then you will want to drill as large a hole as you can, you are going to use a #4 or #5 EZ-Out. Also, by drilling as large a hole as you can, it will allow the bolt to shrink on itself, and help to break loose from the threads. At this point I would LIBERALLY douse it with PB Blaster and let it sit for a few hours.
Now drive your EZ-Out in firmly and then attach a tap handle (preferably) to it. Most people use Vise-Grips but I don't recommend this as you won't turn the EZ-Out parallel. Apply pressure in a counter-clockwise direction...and the bolt should come out.

Thanks for the advice, I think I am going to install the EGT in the downpipe. I have one more question, what about the two bolts that are sticking out, do I need to have these removed as well, and if so where can I get replacement bolts for this thing? thanks.

I would rather not remove the exhaust manifold

Use a quality set of EZ outs from Cleveland or Snap On. Dont get the checker special they will break off inside the bolts complicating the problem even worse. It can be done in the car.

For the stud, get a Stud extractor.

"where can I get replacement bolts for this thing?"

I messed up a few on removing the turbocharger assembly from my engine. The things did have a tendency to strip where the nuts were removed from the studs. I bought mine from Mazda. If you don`t want to do that, you MIGHT be able to find a hardware store that has something that will work.
